
MONTICELLO,
Ark. — Junior guard Tasha Owens
has been named to the 2007-08 Gulf South Conference
West Division Winter All-Academic Team, while six
other student-athletes made the Winter Academic
Honor Roll.
Owens (Fox, Ark.) is majoring in Exercise
Science at the University of Arkansas at Monticello
and currently holds a 3.43 cumulative grade point
average.
Another factor towards Owens’ selection was her
success on the hardwood. During the 2007-08 season,
Owens averaged 19 minutes in 28 of UAM’s 30 games,
making 12 starts at guard. She recorded a personal
season high of 20 points against West Florida in the
UWF Holiday Classic, where she was named to the
all-tournament team. She finished third on the team
in three-point field goals made with 38 over the
course of the season.
Owens reached double figures five times this season,
leading to a final season average of 5.4 points per
game.
To be selected to the GSC All-Academic Team, the
student-athlete must carry at least a 3.20
cumulative GPA and be a significant contributor to
their respective team. Freshman and first-year
transfers are not eligible, but can be placed on the
honor roll.
