College
have
committed
to
become
Boll
Weevils
in
2011,
announced
Friday
by
head
baseball
coach
Carlos
James.
Currently
a
sophomore
for
head
coach
Mark
Carson
at
Northwest
Mississippi,
Ferrell
(5-11,
190)
made
an
immediate
impact
for
the
Rangers
as a
freshman,
helping
the
squad
to a
26-16
overall
record
and
third
place
finish
in
the
MAJC
North
Division.
He
started
in
32
games
and
had
a
.339
batting
average
with
five
doubles,
two
home
runs,
and
10
stolen
bases.
Ferrell
played
his
prep
career
for
head
coach
Doug
Robbins
at
Water
Valley
High
School
in
Water
Valley,
Miss.,
where
he
hit
.551
with
three
home
runs,
46
runs
batted
in
and
16
stolen
bases
his
senior
year.
He
was
a
three-time
all-district
selection
and
was
named
most
valuable
player
of
the
Mississippi
Crossroads
Classic.
“Ronnie
comes
from
an
excellent
program
at
Northwest
under
Mark
Carson
and
Bill
Selby,”
said
assistant
coach
Marc
MacMillan.
“He
plays
the
game
the
way
it
should
be
played
and
is a
hard-nosed,
versatile
outfielder
who
can
play
all
three
positions.
Offensively,
he
is
going
to
put
pressure
on
the
defense
while
at
the
same
time
put
up
multiple
extra
base
hits.
Ronnie
brings
an
attitude,
hustle,
and
style
of
play
that
Coach
James
and
I
want
as a
part
of
this
program.”
Landry
(5-9,
160)
is
currently
a
sophomore
at
Jones
County
Junior
College
under
Christian
Ostrander,
where
he was
a
part
of
the
2009
team
that
set
the
school
record
for
victories,
posting
a
36-16
mark
and
qualifying
for
the MACJC
playoffs.
In
that
season,
he
hit
.312
with
eight
doubles,
two
home
runs,
23
RBI
and
20
stolen
bases.
Landry
played
his
prep
career
at
H.L.Bourgeois
High
School
in
Gray,
La.
“Brock
is a
hard-nosed,
gritty
and
talented
shortstop
that
will
give
us
some
stability
at
one
of
the
most
important
positions
on
the
infield,”
said
James.
“He
has
a
great
feel
and
passion
for
the
game
and
will
be a
great
leader
and
mentor
to
our
younger
infielders.
Brock
will
provide
a
huge
amount
of
energy
to
this
program
and
is
no
stranger
to
hard
work.”
