University

Arkansas

Monticello
baseball
team
was
held
to
only
three
hits
in
each
of
its
10-0
and
9-1
losses
to
Arkansas
Tech
on
Saturday
in
Gulf
South
Conference
action.
In
the
10-0
loss,
the
Wonder
Boys
(21-9,
4-1
GSC-West)
scored
four
runs
in
the
second
inning,
two
runs
in
the
third,
one
run
in
the
fourth
and
three
runs
in
the
fifth
for
the
run-rule
victory.
Chad
Wynn,
Joe
Walton
and
Josh
Riley
all
tied
for
the
team
high
of
two
hits.
The
Boll
Weevils
(17-12,
3-2
GSC-West)
only
collected
three
hits
in
the
loss,
with
senior
Brian
Johnson’s
double
to
left
center
in
the
second,
sophomore
Wayne
Hawkins’
bunt
single
in
the
third
and
junior
Michael
Diffie’s
single
to
center
in
the
fourth.
Hawkins’
hit
came
in
his
only
official
at
bat
of
the
game
after
getting
hit
by a
pitch
in
both
of
his
other
plate
appearances.
Sophomore
Craig
Pellegrin
(1-1)
took
the
loss
for
UAM
after
allowing
10
runs
(six
earned)
off
six
hits
with
two
strikeouts
and
three
walks.
ATU’s
Josh
Floriani
(7-0)
picked
up
the
complete-game
shutout
after
allowing
three
hits
with
11
strikeouts
and
only
two
walks.
In
the
second
game,
ATU
scored
one
run
in
each
of
the
second,
third
and
fourth
innings
with
two
runs
in
the
fifth
and
four
insurance
runs
in
the
seventh.
UAM
plated
its
lone
run
of
the
day
in
the
bottom
of
the
fourth
on
an
RBI-single
to
center
by
senior
Drew
Harper
to
score
senior
Matt
Lewis,
who
led
off
the
inning
with
a
single
through
the
middle
of
the
infield.
Johnson
had
a
single
in
between
Lewis
and
Harper
for
UAM’s
only
other
hit
of
the
game.
Freshman
Austin
Crisp
(0-2)
was
saddled
with
the
loss
after
allowing
three
runs
(two
earned)
off
five
hits
with
three
strikeouts
and
only
one
walk
in
the
first
three
and
one
third
innings
of
the
game.
ATU’s
Caleb
Powers
(5-0)
picked
up
the
second
complete-game
victory
of
the
day
for
the
Wonder
Boys
after
allowing
only
one
run
off
three
hits
with
five
strikeouts
and
two
walks
in
seven
innings.
The
two
squads
conclude
the
GSC
series
on
Sunday
(3/21)
with
a
single
nine-inning
game
at
noon
at
Weevils
Field.
