Arkansas

Monticello
baseball
team
suffered
its
first
two
consecutive
losses
of
the
2010
season
with
18-3
and
15-6
losses
to
Nicholls
State
University
on
Wednesday.
In
the
18-3
loss,
the
Boll
Weevils
(12-5)
scored
all
three
of
their
runs
in
the
top
of
the
third
inning,
all
unearned
because
of
back-to-back
fielding
errors
committed
by
Nicholls
State’s
(5-3)
third
baseman.
Senior
catcher
Noah
Sanders
recorded
an
RBI
in
the
inning
on a
bases-loaded
walk,
followed
by
an
RBI-sacrifice
fly
out
by
senior
third
baseman
Tyler
Henry.
Senior
Blaine
Ivey
was
the
only
Boll
Weevil
to
have
a
multiple-hit
game
after
going
2-for-4
at
the
plate.
Redshirt
freshman
Kenny
Marshall
(0-1)
was
credited
with
the
loss
after
allowing
five
runs
off
four
hits.
In
the
15-6
loss,
junior
Michael
Diffie
gave
the
Boll
Weevils
a
spark
off
the
bench,
going
2-for-3
at
the
plate
with
three
RBI.
Diffie
had
an
RBI-double
in
the
top
of
the
sixth
and
added
a
two-RBI
double
in
the
top
of
the
ninth.
True
freshman
Joe
Lamoureux
(0-1)
was
saddled
with
the
loss
after
allowing
six
runs
(four
earned)
off
three
hits
with
six
walks
and
only
strikeout.
The
Boll
Weevils
used
six
pitchers
in
the
loss.
UAM
returns
home
to
host
GSC
opponent
Alabama-Huntsville
in a
four-game
non-conference
series
this
weekend,
starting
with
a
double-header
on
Saturday,
March
6 at
noon.
The
location
of
the
series
has
not
been
determined.
