baseball
team
recorded
a
double-header
split
with
Texas
Wesleyan
on
Wednesday
at
historic
Taylor
Field,
losing
the
first
game
1-12
and
winning
the
second
game
6-5
on a
walk-off
homerun.
Senior
Drew
Harper
led
off
the
bottom
of
the
seventh
inning
of
the
second
game
with
a
homerun
that
cleared
the
right
field
fence
to
seal
the
16th
victory
of
the
season
for
UAM
(16-10),
giving
the
team
one
more
win
this
season
than
in
the
last
three
seasons
combined.
The
Boll
Weevils
scored
one
run
in
each
of
the
first,
second,
fifth
and
seventh
innings,
with
two
runs
coming
in
the
bottom
of
the
fourth
on a
two-run
homerun
by
senior
Tyler
Henry.
Henry
finished
the
game
2-for-3
at
the
plate
with
three
RBI
and
one
run
scored
to
tie
the
team-high
of
hits.
Senior
Wayne
Hawkins
and
Harper
also
had
two
hits
in
the
game.
Freshman
Brent
Noble
(5-1)
earned
the
win
after
allowing
only
one
hit
with
no
walks
in
the
final
two
innings
of
the
game.
In
the
first
game,
UAM
plated
its
lone
run
in
the
bottom
of
the
second
inning
on
an
RBI
single
by
senior
Matt
Lewis
to
score
Harper,
who
reached
on
an
error
earlier
in
the
inning.
Texas
Wesleyan
(13-8)
scored
at
least
one
run
in
every
inning,
except
for
the
third,
with
its
highest
total
of
four
runs
scored
in
the
sixth
inning.
Travis
Spencer
and
Jeremy
Fisher
led
the
Rams
with
three
hits
each.
Freshman
Earl
Jenkins
(1-1)
was
saddled
with
the
loss
after
allowing
five
runs
(four
earned)
off
five
hits
with
a
pair
of
walks
and
two
strikeouts
in
only
one
full
inning
of
work.
The
Boll
Weevils
return
to
Gulf
South
Conference
action
this
weekend,
hosting
Arkansas
Tech
for
a
three-game
series
beginning
with
a
double-header
on
Saturday,
March
20
at
noon
at
Weevils
Field.
