announced
the
signing
of
Michael
Gilley
to
join
the
Boll
Weevils
for
the
2011
season.
Michael
Gilley
(5-10,
190,
P/IF)
prepped
at
Pleasant
Grove
High
School
in
Texarkana,
where
he
helped
lead
the
Hawks
to a
3A
state
championship.
On
the
mound,
he
was
a
perfect
12-0
with
a
0.52
earned
run
average,
while
striking
out
105
batters.
Offensively,
he
hit
.500
with
61
total
hits
and
44
runs
batted
in.
He
was
named
the
3A
State
Tournament
Most
Valuable
Player,
while
also
earning
3A
All-State
Co-Player
of
the
Year
accolades.
“Michael
comes
from
a
winning
program
at
Pleasant
Grove,
where
he
was
an
instrumental
figure
in
bringing
the
Hawks
their
first
ever
state
championship
in
baseball,”
said
UAM
assistant
coach MacMillan.
“He
put
up
some
very
impressive
numbers
during
his
senior
campaign
and
was
highly
recognized
for
his
performance.”
