MONTICELLO – University of
Arkansas at Monticello football coach Gwaine Mathews invites
everyone to attend the kickoff coach’s luncheon on Tuesday,
August 26 at the Monticello Country Club.
The weekly luncheon features an update on the status of the
Weevil football team as they prepare for their next opponent,
player and coach speeches, as well as food provided by the
Monticello Country Club at only $8 per person.

“This
is a great way to get our community involved in what we are
doing,” said fourth-year head coach Gwaine Mathews. “It’s always
a lot of fun to gather with friends of the program, as well as
keep them informed on the performance of our guys in a very
relaxed atmosphere…Not everyone can come out to the practice
field to make their own judgment of the team, so this is a way
to hopefully get more people involved.”
On the agenda for the first luncheon is an introduction of the
new offensive staff, discussion of the progress of the team
during the fall training camp and a preview for UAM’s season
opener at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on August 30. Mathews also said he
is hopeful to bring senior offensive lineman John Meadows to the
luncheon to give an update on the team from the player’s
perspective.
The luncheon, which is a weekly occurrence for the entire
season, starts each Tuesday at noon at the Monticello Country
Club. |
