Andrew Martin Named to Don Hansen Football Gazette All-Region Team

MONTICELLO, Arkansas – Sophomore fullback Andrew Martin has been named to the Don Hansen’s Football Gazette 2007 All-Southeast Region Football 2nd Team, released this past week.
 
Martin (Cantonment, Fla.) was one of 38 Gulf South Conference players selected to either of the three teams released, all of which had an offensive and defensive team.
 
Over the course of the 2007 season, Martin was the lead blocker for senior John L. Williams (Gainesville, Fla.), who was among the GSC’s best running backs, but was plagued with an injury. Martin aided Williams to gain 876 yards on the ground, reaching the endzone nine times.
 
Martin recorded 33 rush attempts, gaining 156 yards, which averaged out to 4.7 yards per rush. He also caught four passes for a total of 15 yards to add to his final season average of 17 yards of total offense per game.
 
The Weevils hope to add more all-region hopefuls tomorrow (Wednesday), Feb. 6, which is National Signing Day for high-school players to announce formally where they intend to play their college football.
