MONTICELLO – The
University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s basketball
team received nine votes in the preseason National
Association of Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.
The votes mark the first time since UAM has joined the
NCAA the team has received votes in any preseason poll.
The last time UAM was given any national attention was
in the 2004-05 season, when the Weevils climbed to as
high as 21st, but all of the rankings came after the
preseason poll.
UAM is one of five schools to represent the Gulf South
Conference in the poll. North Alabama is the only team
from the GSC to crack the Top 25 at 15th, while Ouachita
Baptist (20), Christian Brothers (14), Delta State (7)
and Montevallo (5) all received votes.
UAM hosts its second green-white scrimmage Thursday,
November 6 at 6 p.m. at Steelman Fieldhouse.
