The University of Arkansas at
Monticello men’s basketball team
held Christian Brothers to only
19 second-half points in a 59-48
win on Thursday night inside
Steelman Field House.

Weevils (10-7, 5-2 GSC-West)
finished the game shooting 44.7
percent from the field
(21-of-47), 38.1 percent from
three-point range (8-of-21) and
60 percent from the free-throw
line (9-of-15). UAM won the
rebound battle by two with a
final margin of 30-28. Both
teams had 20 defensive rebounds.
Sophomore
Hamid Ford tied CBU’s Scott
Dennis for the game-high in
scoring with 16 points each.
Ford was 6-of-11 from the field,
2-of-4 from three-point range
and 2-of-2 from the charity
stripe. Junior Jarrell Turner
and sophomore Jeremy LaGarde
also reached double figures with
15 and 12 points, respectively.
Thursday’s
win over CBU gives UAM its first
season sweep of the Buccaneers
since the 2004-05 season. UAM
had lost five in a row to CBU
prior to this season’s pair of
wins.
CBU (14-7,
4-4 GSC-West) finished the game
shooting 42.6 percent from the
field (20-of-47), 25 percent
from three-point range (4-of-16)
and 57.1 percent from the
free-throw line (4-of-7). In
addition to his 16 points,
Dennis grabbed a game-high 10
rebounds for a double-double.
Kyle Couvion and Zack Warner
also reached double-figures with
11 points each.

Arkansas Tech. The Wonder Boys
remained undefeated with a 79-69
overtime win over Southern
Arkansas on Thursday. Saturday’s
game with ATU is slated to
tipoff at approximately 6 p.m.
inside Tucker Coliseum in
Russellville.
