ARKADELPHIA, Ark. –
Junior Jarrell Turner recorded
his career high of 26 points and
turned in his second
double-double of the season with
12 rebounds to lead the
University of Arkansas at
Monticello men’s basketball team
past Ouachita Baptist with a
60-48 road victory on Saturday
night.
Turner
finished the game 13-of-17 from
the field and also added three
assists and one steal to his
final totals. Senior Derek
Easter also recorded his second
double-double of the season with
14 points and 12 rebounds.
Senior Gil Verner was the other
Boll Weevil to reach
double-figures with 13 points.
As a team,
UAM (7-6, 2-1 GSC-West) shot
47.1 percent from the field
(24-of-51), 16.7 percent from
three-point range (2-of-12) and
62.5 percent from the free-throw
line (10-of-16). The Boll
Weevils easily won the rebound
battle by a final margin of 41
to 19.
OBU (4-12,
0-3 GSC-West) did not have a
scorer reach double-figures, but
was led by Emmanuel Engulu with
nine points and four rebounds.
As a team,
the Tigers shot 37.8 percent
from the field (17-of-45), 15
percent from three-point range
(3-of-20) and 68.8 percent from
the free-throw line (11-of-16).
The Boll
Weevils travel back to
Arkadelphia next Thursday,
January 21 for an 8 p.m. tipoff
against Henderson State at the
Duke Wells Center.
