MONTICELLO – The
University of Arkansas at Monticello
softball team recorded its 9th and 10th
consecutive wins with a double-header
sweep of LeMoyne-Owen College on
Thursday with final scores of 19-0 and
18-0. Both games lasted five innings due
to the NCAA run-rule.
The Cotton Blossoms (17-4) began the
sweep by scoring seven runs in the
first, 11 runs in the second and another
run in the fourth for the run-rule
victory over the Magicians (0-4).

Faith Lund continued her impressive
freshman campaign, going 2-for-3 at the
plate with three RBI, including a
two-run homerun down the left-field line
in the second, her team-high sixth
round-tripper of the the season.
Sophomore Kayla Jackson also went
2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI,
including a solo homerun and a two-RBI
double, both in the second inning.
Jackson (9-2) earned the win after
striking out nine of the 10 batters she
faced in only three innings. The
Hallsville, Texas native struck out the
first six batters of the game before
allowing a base hit to start the third.
After that hit, she recorded three more
strikeouts to conclude her performance
in the circle.
In the second game, the Cotton Blossoms
scored six runs in the first, seven in
the second and five in the third for
their second run-rule win of the day.
Lund led the team again, going 3-for-4
at the plate with three singles, two of
which were run-producing hits. Sophomore
Katie Bowman also went 3-for-4 at the
plate, highlighted by a two-RBI single
to right field in the second inning.
Senior Kayla Temple came off the bench
and went 2-for-2, including a two-run
homerun in the third.
Sophomore Haleigh Winnon (1-0) recorded
the win after tossing the final three
innings in relief, allowing just one hit
and striking out six of the 11 batters
she faced.
The Cotton Blossoms return to the
diamond this weekend for a four-game
home series against
Illinois-Springfield. The series starts
with a double-header this Saturday,
March 13 at 1 p.m. at Blossoms Field.
