THE 15TH ANNUAL COTTON BLOSSOMS SUMMER SOFTBALL CAMP

July 6-8, 2010
Position/Fundamental, Hitting, Pitching and Catching Camp

The Camp of Champions

MONTICELLO – The 15th Annual University of Arkansas at Monticello Softball Summer Camp (The Camp of Champions) is scheduled for July 6-8 at the Monticello Sports Complex on HWY 278 West.

The camp is for girls ages 6-18 and will offer extensive instruction in the fundamentals of softball. Camp instructors include two-time GSC-West Coach of the Year Alvy Early (UAM), Kent Early (Bentonville High School), Eric Ryan (Benton High School), Chad Hutson (Woodlawn High School) and several members of the UAM softball team that finished the 2010 season with more wins than any other team in the nation.

On Tuesday, July 6, there will be a walk-up registration period from 8-9 a.m. with the camp beginning at approximately 9 a.m. The camp will be broken down into two segments each day, going from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m.

A registration form can be found online at uamsports.com. Cost for campers that pre-register will be $80 with an option to pay the entire amount at one time or pay a $40 deposit with the remaining $40 to be paid upon arrival. On-site registration is $85.

Lunch will not be provided, but each camper will receive an official camp T-shirt.

For more information, call Alvy Early at (870) 460-1158.

Each camper will receive individual instruction in all phases of the game.

The position and fundamental session will familiarize the campers with the basic fundamentals needed to play all on-field positions. The hitting session will provide every camper with extensive instruction in the mechanics and techniques of hitting. The pitching/catching session will give catchers a working knowledge of their position through drills and personal instruction, while the pitchers will work on the absolutes of pitching fundamentals as well as actual pitching techniques, helping to make the camper a more well-rounded performer on the field.
