The University
of Arkansas at
Monticello
volleyball team
only allowed
Lyon College to
reach 20 points
in one set in
route to a 3-0
win Wednesday
night in UAM’s
first home match
of the 2009
season.
Final scores
were 25-20,
25-19 and 25-15.
UAM improves to
2-9, while Lyon
drops to 4-10.
Senior Sara
Kindred (Frisco,
Texas) led all
players with 13
kills on 24
attempts, but it
was true
freshman Amanda
Dills’ smart
hitting that
highlighted the
match.
Dills (Buckley,
Wash.) had seven
kills on 10
attempts with no
errors for a
final .700
attack
percentage, good
enough for
second place in
UAM’s record
book for a
single match
behind current
senior Nicole
Ferguson’s .786
match in 2006.
Ferguson
(Brentwood,
Tenn.) also had
an impressive
final percentage
after racking up
four kills on
six attempts
with only one
error for a
final .500
attack
percentage.
Senior Cayla
Knapp’s numbers
were also
impressive. The
South Lake
Tahoe, Calif.
native had seven
kills on 13
attempts with
only one error
for a final .462
attack
percentage,
easily her best
of the season.
She also led all
players from the
front row with
three solo
blocks.
Junior Vikki
Crisco (Saginaw,
Texas) turned in
35 set assists
from the front
row, marking her
sixth match of
the season with
at least 30. She
also had one
kill, one
service ace and
one defensive
dig in the
match.
Defensively,
Kindred led all
players with 12
digs, while
junior Stephanie
Hatten (Baytown,
Texas) racked up
nine.
The Cotton
Blossoms
continue
non-conference
play next
Tuesday,
September 22 in
Little Rock,
Ark. against
Philander Smith.
First serve is
set for 6 p.m.
