MONTICELLO – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team ended its non-conference portion of the 2009 schedule with a 3-0 loss to Texas A&M-Commerce on Monday.

Final game scores were 25-15, 25-18 and 25-16. With the win, TAMU-Commerce improves to 23-8, while UAM drops to 15-17.

TAMU-Commerce’s Naomi Mays led the Lions with a match-high 11 kills on 30 attempts with five errors for a final .200 hitting percentage.

Freshman Danielle Wages led the Blossoms with five kills, followed by freshman Amanda Dills and senior Cayla Knapp with four each.

The Blossoms conclude the regular season with pair of Gulf South Conference-West Division matches, starting Tuesday night at home against Arkansas Tech at 7 p.m., followed by the regular season finale on Saturday, November 7 at Christian Brothers starting at 1 p.m.

The season will not end on Saturday, as UAM will participate in the GSC Championship Tournament for the third time in the five-year history of the program. All four spots from the GSC-West have been clinched, but seeding is yet to be determined. Also to be determined is the host institution. The winner of the GSC-West will host this year’s event.

Tuesday night’s match against Arkansas Tech will be the last home match for five seniors - Sara Kindred, Nicole Ferguson, Cayla Knapp, Mallory Storm and Rishaunda McKinney. A special presentation will take place at the conclusion of the match to honor their careers at UAM.
