Chris Ratcliff
Head Women's Basketball Coach
It is fair
to say Chris Ratcliff knows something about winning in the Gulf
South Conference.
After all,
over the last three years Ratcliff has served as an assistant
coach and recruiting coordinator for what has been arguably the
GSC’s top women’s basketball program at Henderson State, helping
lead the Lady Reddies to the 2006 NCAA Division II Elite Eight,
the 2005 Sweet 16, and the 2004 Final Four, while winning the
2004 GSC championship, the 2006 GSC-West championship, and
posting three consecutive seasons of more than 20 wins.
Ratcliff
was HSU’s primary recruiter, helping to assemble the talent that
included two Division II All-Americans, one Academic
All-American, and six All-GSC selections.
The Lady
Reddies showed marked improvement every year of Ratcliff’s
tenure at HSU, winning 23 games in 2004, 25 games in 2005, and
29 games in 2006, setting new school records in wins every year.
Prior to
his time at HSU, Ratcliff served as an assistant coach at San
Jacinto College in Houston, Texas from 1999-2003. While there,
the Lady Gators advanced to the NJCAA Region XIV tournament for
the first time in 2002, and returned to the tournament in 2003.
While at
San Jacinto, Ratcliff helped to recruit four All-Region XIV
players and fourteen all-conference selections.
Ratcliff
also brings extensive summer camp experience to UAM, having
worked camps at Texas, Texas A&M, Louisiana Tech, Arkansas
State, Lamar, and Houston.
A graduate
of Henderson State University and native of Pasadena, Texas,
Ratcliff is married to Andrea Edmondson of Gentry.
