baseball
team was
swept by the
Harding
Bisons with
final scores
of 15-10 on
Saturday,
followed by
6-5 and 4-3
outcomes on
Sunday.
With the
losses, UAM
drops to
7-35-1
overall and
1-14 in GSC
games, while
Harding
improves to
30-21
overall and
11-7 in the
GSC.
Saturday,

In
Saturday’s
loss, the
Weevils were
able to
fight back
from an
eight-run
deficit
through the
first three
innings with
a three-run
fifth inning
and a
four-run
eighth
inning.
Junior Brian
Johnson was
responsible
for all
three runs
in the fifth
with a
three-run
homerun to
right center
field, his
third blast
of the
season.
Half of the
four runs in
the eighth
inning came
from a
two-run
homerun by
sophomore
Michael
Diffie.
Junior
Blaine Ivey
capped off
the deep
balls in the
game with a
solo-shot to
left field,
his
team-leading
eighth of
the season.
Junior
Brandon
Miller (0-5)
was charged
with the
loss after
allowing six
runs off
nine hits
through the
first two
innings.
Harding’s
Brodie
Brumley
(6-3) earned
the win
after going
the first
six innings,
allowing
five runs
off six hits
with five
walks and 10
strikeouts.

Sunday’s
first game
needed three
extra frames
to decide a
victor,
ending in
Ryan
Kincaid’s
bases-loaded
game-winning
two-RBI
single down
the
left-field
line in the
bottom half
of the 12th
inning of
junior
Richard
Atwood
(0-3), who
only gave up
those two
runs in the
final four
and two
thirds
innings of
the contest.
Junior Matt
Whiting
forced the
Bisons to
have to
score two
runs in the
inning after
smashing a
solo-homerun
down the
left field
line in the
top half of
the stanza
to give UAM
a 5-4 lead.
It was
Whiting’s
second blast
of the
season.
The Weevils
forced the
game into
extra frames
with a
four-run
seventh
inning,
highlighted
by a two-RBI
single to
right center
by junior
Matthew
Lewis.
Atwood and
junior Rod
Williams
also had
run-producing
at bats in
the inning.
Harding’s
Josh
Creveling
(3-3) earned
the win
after
tossing the
final five
and two
thirds
innings,
allowing two
runs off six
hits with
two walks
and seven
strikeouts.
Sunday,
4-3
After
Harding
scored three
runs in the
bottom of
the third
inning,
junior Tyler
Henry tied
the game
with a
three-run
homerun over
the left
field wall
in the top
of the
fourth
inning.
Harding won
its second
one-run game
of the day
in the
bottom of
the seventh
with an RBI
fielder’s
choice by
Adam Darby,
plating J.D.
Glenn, who
led off the
inning with
a double to
left center.
Sophomore
Brett
Stewart
(0-5) was
saddled with
the loss
after
tossing the
first six
innings,
allowing all
four runs
off nine
hits with
one walk and
one
strikeout.
Harding’s
Kyle Kline
(7-3) earned
the win with
a
complete-game
effort of
seven
innings,
allowing
three runs
off four
hits with
two walks
and seven
strikeouts.
On Deck
The
Weevils head
to Alabama
to play
their final
non-conference
games of the
season with
a single
nine-inning
game at
Alabama A&M
on Tuesday,
April 21 at
7 p.m.,
followed by
a
double-header
at
Alabama-Huntsville
on
Wednesday,
April 22,
