winning
the
first
game
of
the
double-header
14-7
over
Missouri-St.
Louis,
the
University
of
Arkansas
at
Monticello
baseball
team
had
its
eight-game
win
streak
snapped
with
a
1-8
loss
in
the
nightcap.
The
Boll
Weevils
improve
to
9-2
overall
this
season,
matching
UAM’s
win
total
from
a
season
ago.
The
Tritons
are
now
1-2
overall.
In
the
14-7
win,
senior
Blaine
Ivey
led
the
way
offensively,
going
2-for-5
at
the
plate,
including
a
two-run
homerun
in
the
bottom
of
the
fourth
inning,
giving
him
three
round-trippers
early
in
the
2010
season.
The
Baton
Rouge,
La.
native
picked
up
his
third
RBI
of
the
game
in
the
bottom
of
the
seventh
inning
with
an
RBI
single
to
left
field
to
ignite
a
five-run
inning.
Senior
Matt
Lewis
led
the
team
with
three
hits
after
going
3-for-4
at
the
plate
with
a
pair
of
RBI
and
one
run
scored.
Seniors
Drew
Harper,
Tyler
Henry,
Brian
Johnson
and
junior
Michael
Diffie
all
added
two
hits
each
in
the
win.
Sophomore
Craig
Pellegrin
(1-1)
picked
up
the
win
after
allowing
six
runs
(five
earned)
off
10
hits
with
two
strikeouts
and
four
walks
in
his
six
innings
of
work.
In
the
1-8
loss,
UAM
scored
its
lone
run
in
the
bottom
of
the
seventh
inning
with
an
RBI
sacrifice
fly
out
by
Diffie
that
scored
Harper,
who
led
off
the
inning
with
a
double
to
left
field.
After
racking
up
14
hits
in
the
first
game,
the
Boll
Weevils
were
held
to
only
three
hits
in
the
loss.
Johnson’s
double
in
the
seventh
was
one
of
those
hits,
with
Harper
and
Henry
recording
the
other
two
hits.
Senior
Kevin
Lienard
(1-1)
was
saddled
with
the
loss
after
allowing
three
runs
(all
earned)
off
four
hits
with
two
walks
and
no
strikeouts.
The
Boll
Weevils
used
six
pitchers
in
the
loss.
UMSL
starting
pitcher
Kenny
Ford
(1-0)
held
the
Boll
Weevils
to
only
one
hit
in
his
five
full
innings
of
work,
while
striking
out
five
UAM
batters
with
only
two
walks.
Andrew
Peterson
picked
up
his
first
save
of
the
season
after
closing
out
the
final
four
innings
of
the
game,
only
allowing
two
hits
and
one
run.
Sunday’s
fourth
game
of
the
series
has
been
cancelled.
