The University of Arkansas at Monticello
football team reports for fall practice this Wednesday, August
6. On-field practice begins on Thursday.
On Wednesday, each player will be given a practice schedule,
receive their helmet and pads, be assigned a locker, and partake
in positional and team meetings.
“We are about to begin a rigorous three-week training period to
be as prepared as possible for this season,” said fourth-year
head coach Gwaine Mathews. “This is a time to get excited
about UAM football, but is also a time for our players and
coaches to be focused on the task at hand.”
There will be close to 100 players report on Wednesday,
including 2007 GSC Freshman of the Year Scott Buisson and
2007 Daktronics All-Region 2nd Team Selection Larry White.
On-field practice begins Thursday, August 7 followed by 25
practice sessions over the next 20 days. Most of the practices
will take place on the practice field on the southeast corner of
the campus behind Bankston Hall.
“The progress of the new facilities is very exciting,” said
Mathews. “These guys are really working hard and it shows…from
the ongoing construction to the upkeep of the grass at the
stadium and practice field, everything is being done first
class.”
