BOX SCORE
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. –
In a 51-48 win over the Henderson State Reddies, the
University of Arkansas at Monticello football team
racked up 703 total yards on offense, ranking second in
the all-time UAM football record books and third in the
all-time Gulf South Conference record books.
Scott
Buisson / UAM Media Services
Once
again leading the way on offense for the Weevils was
sophomore quarterback Scott Buisson (Metairie,
La.) who broke the all-time Gulf South Conference total
offensive yards in a game record with 640, breaking the
old record set by West Alabama’s Marty Washington in
1993 with 591.
Buisson completed 30 of 38 passes for 424 yards with
five touchdown tosses, while also racking up 216 yards
on the ground on 26 carries, including two touchdown
scampers.
Buisson’s total on the ground was the first time a UAM
player has reached the 200-yard mark on the ground since
John L. Williams racked up 275 yards against West
Georgia in 2007, while his 30 passes completed was the
first time a UAM player has completed at least 30 passes
in a game since Cory Allred accomplished the feat in
2004 against Delta State.
Buisson started the first UAM offensive possession with
the third longest rush in UAM history, an 89-yard
touchdown run with 13:51 left in the opening quarter.
Aiding Buisson on the offensive side, sophomore running
back Johnny Polite (McGehee, Ark.) carried the
ball 20 times for 55 yards, averaging almost three yards
per touch.
Buisson had no problems
spreading the ball, as three of his receivers reached
the 100-yard mark. Senior Tim Harris (Kansas
City, Mo.) caught eight passes for 118 yards including
two touchdown receptions. Senior Clarence Denmark
(Jacksonville, Fla.) caught seven passes for 148 yards
and also caught two touchdown passes. The final receiver
to reach the mark was senior Jaleel Harris
(Jacksonville, Ark.) who caught five passes for 104
yards including one touchdown reception.
Defensively, junior
Larry Livers (Hammond, La.) led the way with six
total tackles including one tackle for a loss of four
yards. Junior Scooter White (Lakeland, Fla.) also
racked up six total tackles.
Junior Augustus Ashley
(Jacksonville, Fla.) hauled in his fifth
interception of the season, returning his pick for 11
yards. Ashley also recorded one pass breakup.
The Henderson State record
book was also updated with the results of the game.
Reddie quarterback Roch
Charpentier turned in the second best passing
performance in HSU history with 465 yards through the
air. Charpentier completed 25 of 43 passes and threw
five touchdown passes.
Charpentier’s favorite
target in the game was former starting quarterback
Garrett Manning, who turned in the second best receiving
total in HSU history with 265 yards on 12 catches,
including three touchdowns and a long reception of 80
yards.
UAM moves to 3-1 overall for the first time since 2001,
while moving to 1-0 in GSC play. Henderson State drops
to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in GSC games.
