The Weevils improved their
shooting in the second half to pull the game
to within eight points just four minutes
into the second half. Christian Brothers’
Kevin Weybright followed by scoring five
points in less than a minute to extend the
CBU lead back above 10.
Freshman D’Angelo Dean
(Cincinnati, Ohio) hit two free throws with
2:03 remaining in regulation to pull the
Weevils to within one point at 52-53. A
jumper fro CBU’s Nick Kohs put the Bucs back
up by three. With 49 seconds left, sophomore
Derek Easter (El Dorado, Ark.)
connected on a tip-in off an inbounds pass
to pull the Weevils to within one point
again.
The Weevils, then forced to
foul, only answered CBU’s free throws with
one field goal, which sealed a win for CBU,
keeping them alive for a share of the Gulf
South Conference West Division championship.
The Weevils were led by
junior Duke Sturdivant (York, Ala.)
who scored 13 points. He Dean followed with
12 points, while Easter and junior Deron
Brown (Paris, Ky.) both reached
double-digits with 11 points each.
With the loss, the Weevils
drop to 15-11 overall and 7-6 in the GSC,
while the Bucs improve to 18-9 overall and
9-4 in the GSC.

Weevils is this Saturday, Mar. 1, when the
