The University of Arkansas at
Monticello men’s basketball team
fought back from an 11-point
deficit in the second half to
end regulation tied, but the
Weevils were outscored 10-7 in
the overtime period to give
Duquesne a 75-72 win in the
O’Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic.
The game was UAM’s final
exhibition contest of the season
and the Boll Weevils resume
their regular season Wednesday
at 5 p.m. against Binghamton in
their final game in the CBE
Classic.
In the loss to Duquesne (4-0),
four Boll Weevil scorers reached
double-figures, led by sophomore
Jeremy LaGarde’s 17 points,
followed by junior DeAngelo
McIntosh with 14, senior Gil
Verner with 12 and senior
Anthony Lacey with 10.
The Boll Weevils finished the
game shooting just over 35
percent from the field
(24-of-68), 44 percent from
three-point range (12-of-27) and
60 percent from the charity
stripe (12-of-20).
Duquesne was led by a game-high
18 points from Damian Saunders
and B.J. Monteiro. The Dukes
shot 38 percent from the field
(27-of-71), 25 percent from
three-point range (5-of-20) and
61 percent from the free throw
line (16-of-26).
