MONTICELLO --- Scott Carpino (Jr., Paragould, Ark.), DeMathus Ledet (Sr., Lafayette, La.), and Anthony Rodriguez (Jr., Franklin, La.) have been named to various All-Region squads for their play during the 2005 football season.

Carpino is the Boll Weevils’ lone First Team selection, earning All-Southeast Region honors from Don Hansen’s Football Gazette after seeing time this season at safety, linebacker, defensive line, quarterback, and running back; picking up 31 carries for 147 yards and two touchdowns, completing and catching one pass, returning 30 kicks for 537 yards, and posting 20 tackles on the season.

Ledet was named to an All-Region squad for the second consecutive year, having earned Second Team honors from Daktronics and Third Team honors from Don Hansen’s Football Gazette after following up a stellar junior campaign with a senior year that saw him become one of UAM’s defensive leaders. He finished the season ranking fourth in the GSC and 22nd in the nation in interceptions (6), first in the GSC and 13th nationally in tackles (116) and second in the GSC and 23rd nationally in tackles per game (10.5).

Rodriguez earned Third Team honors from Don Hansen’s Football Gazette as a punter, posting the third-highest punting average in the GSC (40.8 yards), and the most punting yards in the GSC (2,775). In a loss to North Alabama, Rodriguez punted for 484 yards, setting a new UAM record. Rodriguez notched 11 punts of 50+ yards and had a long punt of 65 yards for the season.

All players selected to first or second teams will be considered for All-America honors.
