MONTICELLO ---
Despite a 16-kill effort by Kameshia Melton (Sr.,
Grapevine, Texas), the University of Arkansas at Monticello
Cotton Blossoms (11-20, 2-9 GSC) lost a 3-0 decision to the
Arkansas Tech Golden Suns on Tuesday night at Steelman
Fieldhouse.
The
Blossoms dropped the opening two games 30-28 and 30-28 before
falling 30-22 in the third game.
Melton tied
ATU’s Racheal Urquhart for a match high in kills. Nicole
Ferguson (So., Brentwood, Tenn.) and Taura Rush (Jr.,
Joseph City, Ariz.) both notched a double-digit kill total, as
Ferguson added 11 kills and Rush added 10 kills. Maegan
Martin (Jr., Burnet, Texas) dished out 35 assists, while
MacKenzie Willis (Jr., Andrews, Texas) led UAM with 15 digs.
Martin added 14 digs, while Stephanie Hatten (Fr.,
Baytown, Texas) added 11 and Vikki Crisco (Fr., Saginaw,
Texas) pitched in 10.
The Blossoms
will conclude their 2007 season with a match Sunday against
Christian Brothers University in Memphis. The match is scheduled
for 1 p.m.

MONTICELLO --- The
University of Arkansas at Monticello Cotton Blossoms (11-19)
dropped a pair of matches at the UAM Classic, falling 3-1 to
Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras and then dropping a 3-1 decision to
Montevallo in the tournament finale.
In the
opening match against Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras, the Blossoms fell
30-26 in the opening game, but rallied to tie the match with a
30-23 win in game two. UPR took the match after winning games
three and four 30-25 and 30-23.
Taura
Rush (Jr., Joseph
City, Ariz.) led UAM with 13 kills. Nicole Ferguson (So.,
Brentwood, Tenn.) added 12, and Sara Kindred (So.,
Frisco, Texas) added 10. Maegan Martin (Jr. Burnet,
Texas) dished out 45 assists, while Stephanie Hatten
(Fr., Baytown, Texas) led UAM with 22 digs. Martin and
MacKenzie Willis (Jr., Andrews, Texas) both added 14 digs,
while Vikki Crisco (Fr., Saginaw, Texas) added 12.
In the
final match, after topping Montevallo 30-20 in the opening
contest, the Blossoms fell 30-28, 30-28, and 30-23 in the final
three games.
Ferguson
led UAM with 17 kills, while Rush added 12. Martin dished our 42
assists, and tied Hatten for the team lead with 15 digs. Willis
added 14 digs and Rush added 10 in the loss.
The Cotton
Blossoms will return to action Tuesday, October 30, as they play
their final home match of the 2007 season against Arkansas Tech
at Steelman Fieldhouse. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Swept By Harding |

SEARCY
--- The University of
Arkansas at Monticello Cotton Blossoms (11-17, 2-8 GSC) were
swept by the Harding Lady Bisons, dropping a 3-0 decision on
Thursday at Rhodes Field House in Searcy.
After
winning the opening game 30-14, Harding picked up 30-17 and
30-21 wins to clinch the sweep.
Kameshia
Melton (Sr., Grapevine, Texas) and Nicole Ferguson (So., Brentwood,
Tenn.) both posted ten kills in the loss. Maegan Martin
(Jr., Burnet, Texas) led UAM with 29 assists while Stephanie
Hatten (Fr., Baytown, Texas) tallied ten digs.
The Blossoms
will return to action on Friday, October 26 as they host Puerto
Rico-Rio Piedras on the opening day of the UAM Classsic. The
Blossoms’ match will begin at 7 p.m., with the first match of
the day scheduled for 5 p.m.

Taura Rush (Jr., Joseph City, Ariz.) tallied a match-high 21
kills and Nicole Ferguson (So., Brentwood, Tenn.) added
18 kills as the University of Arkansas at Monticello Cotton
Blossoms (11-16, 2-7 GSC) picked up a 3-1 victory over the
Southern Arkansas University Lady Muleriders on Tuesday at
Steelman Fieldhouse.
After
falling 30-19 in the opening game, UAM rallied to knot the match
after a 30-22 victory in game two. UAM won games three and four
31-29 and 30-25.
Rush and
Ferguson were the only Blossoms in double-digit kills. Ferguson
hit a team-high .391 for the night. Maegan Martin (Jr.,
Burnet, Texas) dished out 52 assists, while Stephanie Hatten
(Fr., Baytown, Texas) led UAM with 27 digs. Martin added 22
digs, MacKenzie Willis (Jr., Andrews, Texas) added 19,
Keri Gilbert (Fr., San Marcos, Texas) added 15, Vikki
Crisco (Fr., Saginaw, Texas) added 12, and Sara Kindred
(So., Frisco, Texas) added 10
The Cotton
Blossoms will return to action on Thursday, October 25, as they
travel to Searcy to face Harding. The match is scheduled for 7
p.m.

GRAMBLING, LA ---
Keri Gilbert (Fr., San Marcos, Texas) notched a match-high
13 kills and .444 hitting percentage to lead the University of
Arkansas at Monticello Cotton Blossoms (10-16) to a 3-1 victory
on the road Friday against Grambling.
The
Blossoms won the opening two games 30-27 and 30-27 before
Grambling rallied to take a 30-19 victory in the third game. UAM
won the fourth and decisive game 30-28.
Kameshia
Melton (Sr., Grapevine, Texas) had 11 kills for UAM. Maegan Martin (Jr.,
Burnet, Texas) dished out 32 assists, while Stephanie Hatten
(Fr., Baytown, Texas) led UAM with 13 digs.
The Cotton
Blossoms return to action Tuesday, October 23, hosting Southern
Arkansas at Steelman Fieldhouse. The match begins at 7 p.m.

Despite placing five players in double-digit kills, the
University of Arkansas at Monticello Cotton Blossoms (9-16, 1-7
GSC) dropped a 3-2 decision to the Ouachita Baptist University
Lady Tigers on Thursday at Steelman Fieldhouse.
The
Blossoms dropped a 37-35 heartbreaker in the opening before
picking up 30-28 and 30-26 victories in games two and three
before OBU rallied to take a 30-23 win in game four and a 15-11
win in the fifth game.
Taura
Rush (Jr., Joseph
City, Ariz.) led UAM with 17 kills. Kameshia Melton (Sr.,
Grapevine, Texas) added 16, Sara Kindred (So., Frisco,
Texas) had 14, Nicole Ferguson (So., Brentwood, Tenn.)

match-high 55 assists and led UAM with 30 digs, while

Despite a 12-kill effort by MacKenzie Willis (Jr.,
Andrews, Texas), the University of Arkansas at Monticello Cotton
Blossoms (9-15, 1-6 GSC) were unable to overcome the solid
hitting of Henderson State’s Rose Euppah and Edith Musebe as the
Lady Reddies picked up a 3-0 victory over UAM on Tuesday night
at the Duke Wells Center.
The
Blossoms were able to keep the match close, but dropped their
games by the scores of 30-28, 30-26, and 30-27.
Willis’ 12
kills led UAM, while Vikki Crisco (Fr., Saginaw, Texas)
dished out 35 assists. Maegan Martin (Jr., Burnet, Texas)
had 18 digs while Nicole Ferguson (So., Brentwood, Tenn.)
had ten.
The Cotton
Blossoms will return to action on Thursday, October 18 as they

Despite a 14-kill effort by Kameshia Melton (Sr.,

Cotton Blossoms (8-14) were swept 3-0 by the University of
Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras on Sunday at Steelman Fieldhouse.
The
Blossoms dropped the match after losing 30-26, 30-24, and 30-20
in the three-game match.
Melton’s 14
kills led UAM, while UPR’s Nadia Navarro led all players with 20
kills. Melton’s .440 hitting percentage was a match high.
Vikki Crisco (Fr., Saginaw, Texas) led UAM with 34 assists,
while Maegan Martin (Jr., Burnet, Texas) had a team-best
13 digs.
The Cotton
Blossoms will return to action Tuesday, October 9 as they host
Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Steelman Fieldhouse. The match is

Kameshia Melton (Sr., Grapevine, Texas) had a match-high 18
kills to pace the University of Arkansas at Monticello Cotton
Blossoms (8-13, 1-5 GSC) to a 3-1 victory over Christian
Brothers on Saturday at Steelman Fieldhouse. The victory was
UAM’s first conference victory of the year.
The
Blossoms took the opening game 30-21 before CBU tied the match
with a 30-18 decision in the second game. UAM won the final two
games by scores of 30-19 and 34-32 to seal the victory.
Taura
Rush (Jr., Joseph
City, Ariz.), MacKenzie Willis (Jr., Andrews, Texas), and
Nicole Ferguson (So., Brentwood, Tenn.) all had 13 kills
in addition to Melton’s 18, while Vikki Crisco (Fr.,
Saginaw, Texas) had 55 assists and tied Maegan Martin
(Jr., Burnet, Texas) for the team lead in digs with 13.

Blossoms will return to action Sunday, October 7, facing Puerto
Rico-Rio Piedras in a non-conference contest at Steelman
Fieldhouse. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m.

a non-conference match to their home schedule for Sunday,
October 7, as they will host Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras at Steelman
Fieldhouse at 2 p.m.
The
Blossoms’ match against Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras on Friday,
October 26 will be played as scheduled.

RUSSELLVILLE --- The University of Arkansas at Monticello Cotton Blossoms (7-13, 0-5
GSC) dropped their fourth consecutive match, falling 3-1 to the
Arkansas Tech Golden Suns on Thursday night at Tucker Coliseum.
After
winning the opening match 30-26, the Blossoms dropped 30-18,
30-17, and 30-22 decisions in games two, three, and four as the
Golden Suns posted hitting percentages of .304, .300, and .233.
Kameshia
Melton (Sr., Grapevine, Texas) led UAM with 13 kills, while Taura Rush
(Jr., Joseph City, Ariz.) added 12 kills. ATU’s Sarah Von Lienen
led all players with 19 kills. Vikki Crisco (Fr.,
Saginaw, Texas) had a team-high 35 assists, while Maegan
Martin (Jr., Burnet, Texas) added 20 digs and Crisco added
12.

Arkansas at Monticello Cotton Blossoms (7-12, 0-4 GSC)
dropped a 3-0 decision to the Harding Lady Bisons (14-6, 4-0
GSC) on Saturday at Steelman Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.
After
dropping the opening match 30-23, the Cotton Blossoms staged
a furious rally in game two but ultimately fell short, 34-32
before the Lady Bisons took the third game 30-22.
Nicole Ferguson
(So., Brentwood, Tenn.) led
UAM with 11 kills and a .346 hitting percentage, while
Kameshia Melton
(Sr., Grapevine, Texas) had 10 kills.
Vikki Crisco
(Fr., Saginaw, Texas) dished out 35 assists and had a mtch-high
