MONTICELLO – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team is looking to earn a Great American Conference Championship Tournament berth in the final weekend of the regular season with a three-game series on the road against rival Southern Arkansas.
The series has been pushed back a day from its original schedule due to weather, and will now feature a single nine-inning game on Saturday, April 25 at 6 p.m. and a double-header on Sunday starting at 1 p.m. Live coverage of all three games can be found at

The Weevils come into the final weekend at 17-17 overall and 12-13 in GAC games. UAM currently ranks eighth in the GAC standings with the top six advancing to the GAC Championship Tournament May 2-5 in Enid, Oklahoma.
East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma State are currently ahead of UAM at 11-11 each. Those two squads play each other this weekend. UAM owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over Southeastern, but does not against ECU. Arkansas Tech is currently fifth in the standings at 13-10 heading into its home series against GAC-leading Harding this weekend.
UAM comes into the final weekend of the regular season ranked 10th in the GAC in team batting (.261) and fifth in pitching (4.54 ERA). The Weevils have won five of their last six games, including a two games to one series win over Southeastern Oklahoma State and non-conference wins over GAC-leading Harding and Union.
The Weevils have three players hitting above .300, led by junior Kevin Fitzpatrick, who ranks eighth in the GAC with a .360 batting average. Junior Corey Wood is next a .331 with a team-high 40 hits and 31 RBI. Redshirt freshman Brian Ray is hitting .311 with a team-high .469 on-base percentage.
On the mound, Tomko Award semifinalist Austin Braddock leads UAM and ranks fourth in the GAC with a 2.57 ERA and a 6-3 record. He leads the GAC with seven complete games. Junior Ben Aldridge has arguably been the most successful relief pitcher in the GAC this season with a 2.87 ERA in 17 appearances this season.
Southern Arkansas enters the series at 32-15 overall and 17-10 in GAC games. The Muleriders rank third in the GAC and have been ranked No. 5 in the first NCAA Division II regional rankings of the season.
The Muleriders rank fourth in the GAC in batting (.298) and first in pitching (3.69 ERA). Carver Rademacher paces the SAU hitters with a .336 batting average. Chris Quinn follows at .331, and Billy Germaine is hitting .323. Jon Phillips leads SAU with 57 hits. SAU has a pair of 6-4 starters in Landon Simpson and Preston Gray. Simpson is tied with Braddock for the No. 4 spot in the GAC's ERA leaderboard at 2.57.
