@WEEVILFOOTBALL DOMINANT IN ROAD WIN OVER OBU BISON

Shawnee, Okla. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team defeated the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist Saturday afternoon, on the road in Shawnee, by a final score of 64-21. 5468
  • The Weevils improve to 4-3 (4-3 GAC) overall this season.
  • Oklahoma Baptist falls to 0-7 (0-7 GAC) on the year.
  • "All around team effort today," said head football coach Hud Jackson. "Was worried coming off a big win over Tech, but maturity on this team showed today. Very proud of the effort, and lots of players got some quality reps today. Got to build on this."

  • UAM was on the board first in this GAC match-up as freshman Logan Penn rushed for the seven yard score to give the Weevils the early 7-0 lead. 
  • Arkansas-Monticello extended that lead on its next drive with an 80 yard passing touchdown from Cole Sears to Warren Leapheart to push the advantage out to 14-0. 
  • Despite allowing an OBU rushing touchdown, the Weevils answered back with a 36 yard passing TD from Sears to Jalen Tolliver to take a 20-7 lead into the second quarter of play.

  • The Weevils continued to pour on the offensive attack in the second quarter starting off with a seven yard strike from Sears to Trevon Smith, and UAM went on to follow up that with yet another Sears passing touchdown, this time finding Ralph Singleton from 10 yards out to put the lead at 33-7.
  • Josh Marini added a 35 yard field goal to close out the first half, giving UAM the 36-7 advantage heading into the locker room.

  • Arkansas-Monticello would begin the third quarter right where they left off with a 42 yard touchdown through the air from Sears to Trevon Smith once again for the 43-7 lead with just 13:36 remaining.
  • UAM found success on the ground as well as Deountario Brown rushed into the end-zone to increase the point total to 50 points overall. 
  • The Weevils continued to run the ball well with Trey Fleming rushing for the score from 16 yards out as UAM would lead 57-14 by the end of the third quarter.

  • UAM capped off its scoring midway through the final quarter of play with Nigel Dora grinding his way into the end-zone for seven yards and giving the Weevils the 64-14 lead. 
  • Oklahoma Baptist went on to score only once more during the remainder of the period, as Arkansas-Monticello went on to take the game at 64-21 overall.
