bracket game
between Valdosta
State and
Arkansas Tech
that the
remainder of the
the championship
tournament has
been cancelled
due to expected
rain.
Valdosta State
beat Arkansas
Tech 5-3 to
capture the 2009
GSC crown,
giving the Lady
Blazers an
automatic berth
into next week's
NCAA South
Regional
Tournament.
The University
of Arkansas at
Monticello
softball team
ends the 2009
campaign with an
overall record
of 38-16 and a
17-13 GSC mark.
The Blossoms
earned its 11th
straight berth
into the GSC
Tournament, 12th
overall, by
entering the
event as the GSC-West
No. 2 seed.
The 2009 season
was highlighted
with four
glamorous
awards, with
senior Lindsey
Randall earning
GSC-West Player
of the Year,
freshman Kayla
Jackson earning
GSC-West
Freshman and
Pitcher of the
Year and head
coach Alvy Early
earning GSC-West
Coach of the
Year.
The Blossoms
also had six
All-GSC
selections, with
Randall,
Jackson, junior
Emilie Hobbs,
junior Becca
Tipton and
senior Amy
Mardis earning
first team
honors, rounded
out by freshman
Katie Bowman's
selection to the
All-GSC second
team.
