CLEVELAND, Miss. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s basketball team advanced to the NCAA South Regional Tournament Semi-Finals with a 78-66 win over Rollins College.
The win pits UAM against No. 1 Delta State for the fourth time of this season. DSU defeated the Blossoms twice in the regular season and once in the GSC Championship game. Two of those games ended in overtime.
The semi-final game is scheduled to tip-off at 8 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, March 14) on DSU’s home court in Walter Sillers Coliseum.
In the win over Rollins (25-6), UAM (21-8) was led by four players in double-digits. Senior Andrea Dubose led the team with 13 points, followed by senior Addie Lees and sophomore Erika Brown with 12 points each. Junior Monica Perkins-Miller rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points.
The Blossoms held a 10-point lead for the majority of the contest, excluding the first six minutes of the first half and four minutes in the second half, when Rollins used a 7-0 scoring run to trim the UAM lead to seven points.
UAM stretched its lead to as much as 16 points in the final two minutes of regulation with a pair of free-throws by Lees at the 1:51 mark.
Rollins was led by a game-high 18 points from Kourtnie Berry. Jessica Pressley also reached double-digits with 10 points, which was her average coming into the contest.
DSU holds a 35-9 all-time series record with UAM. The only time the two squads have met in NCAA Regional Tournament play finished in favor of the Blossoms with an 80-68 win over DSU in 1998 in the opening round.
DSU reached the semi-finals with a 58-48 win over No. 8 Valdosta State in the opening round.
