ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s basketball team committed 25 turnovers in a 61-66 loss to Ouachita Baptist Saturday afternoon inside Bill Vining Arena.

The loss marks the second consecutive defeat for the Cotton Blossoms (7-8, 1-2 GSC-West) in league play, both to teams which advanced to at least the NCAA “Sweet 16” a season ago.

The Lady Tigers (9-7, 1-2 GSC-West) picked up their first conference win of the season behind the 18-point effort from A’Laeshia Adams.

UAM was led in scoring by junior Erika Brown and sophomore Chelsea Johnson with 10 points each. Senior Monica Perkins-Miller added seven points and a game-high 11 rebounds in the loss.

As a team, the Cotton Blossoms shot 44.4 percent from the field (24-of-54), 13.3 percent from three-point range (2-of-15) and 64.7 percent from the free-throw line (11-of-17). Both of UAM’s three-pointers were by Johnson.

UAM travels back to Arkadelphia next Thursday, January 21 for a 6 p.m. tipoff against Henderson State inside the Duke Wells Center.
