Jeff Pope was one of the state's best distance runners in the 1980s.  Pope was a two-time NAIA All-America honoree in the marathon in 1985 and 1986, All-America in cross country in 1985, AIC individual champion in the 10,000 meter three times and once in the 5,000 meter, all AIC five different times (three times in track and two times in cross country).

Pope is a 1986 UAM graduate and is currently an award-winning teacher at Fort Morgan High School in Colorado.
