Box Score ADA, Okla. – The UAM Boll Weevils fell on the road today, 34-9, to the East Central Tigers.
The UAM offense was held to just 163 yards of total offense on the day, as they struggled to move the ball against the ECU defense. The Boll Weevils were just 2-of-11 on third down attempts.
The only offense in the first quarter came at the end of the quarter, as ECU drove 77 yards and were held to a field goal to go up 3-0. They got the game’s first touchdown with 11:42 remaining in the half after a four-play drive that went 78 yards. Titus Mobley completed the drive with a three-yard one to put ECU up 10-3.
UAM put three points on the board before the half off a 26-yard field goal from Ryan Crowley that capped a 51-yard drive, 10-3. The Tigers closed the half with a second field goal to put the lead back at 10 going into halftime.
The third quarter was all ECU, with three Tiger touchdowns to put the game out of reach. They scored with 6:09 left in the quarter off a sustained 12-play drive to go up 20-3. They pulled away thanks to a fumble from the Weevils on their own 21 yard line. Kyle Manning was sacked on the third play from scrimmage that the Tigers’ Tyler McGrew recovered and ran back the 21 yards to the end zone.
The Tigers got one more touchdown before the end of the third quarter off a 19-yard pass to go up 34-3 going into the fourth quarter. The Weevils got one final score in the fourth with 5:45 remaining when Damon Wicker connected with D.J. Stephens for a short two-yard pass to put the final at 34-9.
The Weevils will return home next weekend as they host Northeastern State University. The game with the Riverhawks is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Convoy Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium.
