UAM GAME NOTES (PDF) | LIVE COVERAGE

MONTICELLO
– For the first time since joining the Great American Conference, the University of Arkansas at Monticello football team will visit Durant, Oklahoma to play Southeastern Oklahoma State this Saturday, September 13.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Paul Laird Field. The game can be heard on the UAM Sports Network at KHBM-FM 93.7 and online at uamsports.com. Southeastern Oklahoma State will also provide live stats of the game. All links to live coverage can be found at www.uamsports.com/coverage.aspx.

FIRST TRIP TO DURANT SINCE 1979
Just like UAM having to visit Ada, Oklahoma in the first three years of the Great American Conference to face East Central, Southeastern Oklahoma State has been forced to come to Southeast Arkansas every year since the league began in 2011. That all changes this Saturday when the Weevils make the 320 mile trip to Durant, Oklahoma to face off against the Savage Storm. It is the first visit to Durant since the first all-time meeting between the two schools, a 41-7 UAM victory in 1979. UAM holds a 3-1 all-time record against the Savage Storm, the only loss coming in the 2012 season.

UAM-SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE SERIES
2013: @UAM 42, Southeastern Oklahoma State 34
2012: Southeastern Oklahoma State 41, @UAM 35
2011: @UAM 24, Southeastern Oklahoma State 20
1979: UAM 41, @Southeastern Oklahoma State 7

SCOUTING THE SAVAGE STORM
Southeastern Oklahoma State enters Saturday's game against UAM also with a 0-1 record after losing to Southern Arkansas 30-29 this past Saturday in Magnolia on the last play of the game. Up 29-23 and looking to run out the clock, Southeastern's Devlon Wortham fumbled at the SAU 41-yard line with 1:31 left in the game. SAU responded with a 10-play, 61-yard drive capped with a 24-yard touchdown pass from Si Blackshire to Aaron Johnson as time expired to tie the game. A successful extra point from Dylan Nowack gave the Muleriders the win. Despite his late fumble, Wortham finished the game with 228 rushing yards, including touchdown runs of 76 and 45 yards. Southeastern finished the game with a total of 347 rushing yards, but were still out gained in the category by 10 yards. The Savage Storm was limited to 84 passing yards. Linebacker Thomas Curry paced the SE defense  with nine tackles. The Savage Storm finished last year at 2-9 overall and 2-8 against GAC teams. Southeastern was picked to finish eighth in the preseason GAC coaches poll.

THE LAST MEETING: UAM 42, SOUTHEASTERN 34
UAM snapped an 11-game losing streak last year in week 2 with a 42-34 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State at home. The Weevils were the only team to score back-to-back touchdowns in the contest that featured a combined 10 touchdowns and three field goals. Each team answered the other's scores on every occasion with the exception of UAM's first two touchdowns of the second quarter. Southeastern made a 37-yard field goal with 9:21 remaining to pull to within one point, but UAM sealed the win with 4:51 with a 30-yard touchdown pass from Colton Morrison to Jamal Nixon to cap a 97-yard drive that was set up by a recovered fumble on a first-and-goal situation for Southeastern. Colton Morrison had a career day, going 25-for-36 with 345 yards and four touchdowns.

LAST TIME OUT: EAST CENTRAL 38, UAM 34
The Boll Weevils are coming off a 38-34 loss to East Central at home this past Saturday in the 2014 season opener. ECU outscored UAM 28-20 in the second half to record the come-from-behind victory. UAM appeared to have regained the lead with less than a minute remaining in regulation when a deep pass from Colton Morrison to Ivory Washington seemed to have been caught in the end zone, but the officials ruled that ECU's Qumain Black had intercepted the pass, effectively ending the game. ECU out gained UAM 498-311 in total offense. The Weevils held a slight 289-286 edge in passing yards. ECU won the rushing battle 212-22.

MIKE EARLY BREAKS RECORDS, EARNS HONORS
Senior Mike Early broke UAM and Great American Conference records in last Saturday's loss to East Central with 183 kickoff return yards on just three attempts, which included not one, but two 89-yard kickoff returns for touchdowns. The Denham Springs, Louisiana native became the first in UAM and GAC history to have more than one kick return for a score in the same game. He was named the GAC Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday, the D2Football.com National Special Teams Player of the Week on Thursday and also earned a spot on the Beyond Sports Network Division II Best Performances list from Week 1. In addition to his return numbers, he also chipped in from his starting cornerback position with three tackles and two pass breakups.

DEADRIEN TERRY SHINES IN UAM DEBUT
Tennessee-Martin transfer Deadrien Terry shined in his UAM debut with a team-high 91 yards on seven receptions, including a long reception of 36 yards. He and senior teammate Ian Levine tied for the team-high in receptions, which was the third-highest total in the GAC in Week 1. Levine finished the game with 84 yards and had the longest catch of the game, besting Terry by one yard with a 37-yard reception.

MCGEE ADDS 18TH & 19TH CAREER FIELD GOALS
After breaking a UAM and GAC single-season record as a true freshman last year with 17 made field goals, kicker Jamie McGee picked up right where he left off last year by making his 18th and 19th career field goals in UAM's loss to East Central this past Saturday. His distances on Saturday were 25 and 33 yards. He just missed a 42-yarder in the fourth quarter. He was also 4-for-4 on extra points in the loss.

ANDREW JACKSON FILLS UP STAT SHEET AGAINST ECU
Junior linebacker Andrew Jackson recorded stats in nearly all defensive categories in this past Saturday's loss to East Central. He tied teammates Marshall Everett, Demarcus Robinson, George Alvarez and Louis Curry in total tackles with five. Jackson added one quarterback sack for a loss of 13 yards and finished with two tackles for losses of 16 yards. The Monroe, Louisiana native also forced a fumble, had one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry.

ROD SMITH FINDS END ZONE AFTER BUSY DAY
Despite UAM having only a net off 22 rushing yards against ECU, senior running back Rod Smith finished the game with 25 carries for a net of 45 yards. On his 24th carry of the game, the Dumas, Arkansas native scored from nine yards out to cap an 11-play, 82-yard drive that used four and a half minutes. That score put UAM up 10 points with 9:29 remaining in regulation. It was his seventh career rushing touchdown.
