WEEVILS TAKE FINAL TRIP TO OKLAHOMAThe University of Arkansas at Monticello football team concludes its two-game road swing with a road trip to Ada, Oklahoma this Saturday, October 31 to face off against the East Central Tigers. This is the fourth time in the last five years the Weevils have had to travel to Ada to face the Tigers. This Saturday's trip is the final road trip for the Weevils this season into the state of Oklahoma.
LAST TIME OUTThe Weevils were less than a touchdown from securing a Great American Conference road victory over Ouachita last Saturday in Arkadelphia in a 20-17 loss to the Tigers. The loss dropped UAM to 1-7 on the season heading into this weekend's road game against East Central. UAM out-gained Ouachita in total offense, pass offense, time of possession, first downs and third-down conversions, but the Tigers' 10-straight points in the third quarter, including a touchdown following an interception, were the deciding factors. Ouachita jumped out to a quick lead with a touchdown run less than five minutes into the game, and added to that lead with a 37-yard field goal at the same point in the second quarter. The Weevils answered with 10 points of their own, including a one-yard touchdown run by junior quarterback Brett Courville and a 23-yard field goal by junior Jamie McGee. Ouachita answered with 10 points in the final six minutes of the third quarter. The Weevils cut the deficit back to three points with 3:55 remaining in regulation on a two-yard touchdown run by sophomore Jeremy Jackson, but the Tigers ran out the clock on its ensuing possession to seal the win. Coming into that game, the Tigers were just one game back of Great American Conference leader Henderson State. ECU is the only team to have beaten Henderson State this season with a 35-28 decision back in Week 2 in a game played in Arkadelphia. The Tigers also have wins over Southern Nazarene (69-0), Oklahoma Baptist (41-20), Northwestern Oklahoma State (42-30) and Arkansas Tech (20-19). The losses for the Tigers have come at the hands of Ouachita (31-24), Southwestern Oklahoma State (38-31) and Harding (62-20).
9TH ALL-TIME MEETING, WEEVILS LOOK TO SNAP SKIDThe Weevils look to snap a five-game losing skid against East Central this Saturday in the ninth all-time meeting between the two squads. ECU has won all four meetings in the series since both became charter members of the GAC in 2011. ECU holds a 7-2 all-time advantage and will be hosting UAM in Ada for the fourth time in the last five years.
