SHAWNEE, Oklahoma — The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team ended its two-game road stretch with a 56-28 loss to Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday at Hurt Field.
The Weevils (0-5) took an early lead with an 11-play, 84-yard drive to open the game, capped with a 10-yard touchdown run by sophomore Jeremy Jackson at the 11:25 mark of the first quarter.
The Bison (1-4) responded with four unanswered touchdowns in the remainder of the first half, and added one more touchdown early in the third quarter to take a big lead of 36-7.
UAM got back on the scoreboard at the 7:47 mark of the third quarter with a 55-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Hunter Leppert to senior Cody Bordelon. Leppert later hooked up with sophomore Jalen Tolliver on a 29-yard touchdown pass to cut OBU's lead to 43-21.
Jeremy Jackson made it a two-touchdown game with 8:16 remaining in regulation with a one-yard touchdown run to cap a seven-play, 83-yard drive that used 2:37. The Bison added two touchdowns in the final five minutes of the contest to finalize the scoring.
UAM totaled 481 yards of total offense, while the Bison had 503.
For the third consecutive game, senior linebacker Ofisa Kose recorded a career-high in tackles, this time posting 15 stops in Saturday's loss to OBU.
The Weevils are back in action next Saturday at home against Southern Nazarene for homecoming. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Convoy Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium.
