MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team closed out the home portion of its 2015 schedule on Saturday with a 37-0 loss to Southeastern Oklahoma State on UAM's senior day.
The Savage Storm (5-5, 5-5 Great American Conference) more than tripled UAM in total offense, forced six UAM turnovers and doubled the Weevils in time of possession. UAM (1-9, 1-9 Great American Conference) was limited to 97 yards of total offense in the loss, the first time under 100 since the final game of the 2006 season.
Southeastern struck early with a defensive touchdown on the second play of the contest, taking advantage of sloppy field conditions for an 11-yard fumble return for a touchdown.
The Savage Storm defense held UAM to two first downs in the first quarter, but the Weevils defense answered the bell by holding Southeastern without any more point in the first 15 minutes.
Southeastern scored twice in the second quarter, the first with a blocked extra point and the second being a failed two-point conversion attempt. The Storm held a 19-0 lead at the halftime break. Southeastern scored three more touchdowns in the second half with all three extra point attempts failing.
Senior linebackers Ofisa Kose and Marshall Everett paced the Weevil defense with 12 and 10 tackles, respectively. It was Kose's sixth double-digit tackles performance of the year and the first of the year for Everett.
A total of 17 UAM seniors were honored prior to the start of Saturday's game, including Kose and Everett. Others included defensive back Denzel Expose, defensive back Demarcus Robinson, receiver Kevin Beckwith, defensive lineman Blake Green, receiver Rondarious Morris, quarterback Hunter Leppert, defensive lineman Marquez Massey, defensive lineman Jabari Mathieu, receiver Trey Taylor, running back Nick Williams, defensive back Antonio Jenkins, linebacker Damien Blue, offensive lineman D.J. Bailey, offensive lineman Wesley Williams and receiver Cody Bordelon.
The Weevils finish the year next Saturday, November 14 on the road against Southern Arkansas for the Battle of the Timberlands. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. in Magnolia.
