@WEEVILFOOTBALL DROPS SEASON FINALE AT SOUTHERN ARKANSAS

Magnolia, Ark. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team was defeated by arch rival Southern Arkansas on the road in the 2017 regular season finale, 51-20.

  • UAM finishes the year 5-6 (5-6 GAC).
  • SAU ends the 2017 season with a 7-4 (7-4 GAC) record.

  • Arkansas-Monticello started off the match-up with a bang as Cole Sears connected with Jalen Tolliver for the 63 yard touchdown through the air for the early 7-0 lead over SAU.

  • Imani Riley added to the Weevils' lead with a five yard rushing score to take a 14-0 advantage over the GAC rival.
  • Southern Arkansas countered UAM with 12:54 left in the quarter on a 39 yard rushing touchdown. SAU went on to tie up the game with a passing score on the next home drive, and ultimately held a 28-14 lead over UAM at the half.

  • The Muleriders continued to score unanswered points in the second half adding both a field goal, and another rushing touchdown to the SAU lead at 38-14.

  • Southern Arkansas saw its biggest lead late in the fourth quarter at 48-14 after a 42 yard field goal extended the home advantage.
  • The Weevils did manage to get back onto the scoreboard with another Sears to Tolliver touchdown, but the Muleriders ultimately took the victory over UAM at 51-20.
