@WEEVILFOOTBALL FACES SAU ON THE ROAD IN SEASON FINALE

MONTICELLO —
 The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team will take on the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas this weekend, Saturday, November 11 in Magnolia, Arkansas. 

Kick-off is slated for 2:00 p.m. at Wilkins Stadium at Rip Powell Field on the campus of SAU. Saturday will also be the final regular season match-up of the 2017 season. The game can be heard on the UAM Sports Network at KHBM-FM 93.7 in Monticello, watched online and followed with live stats at www.UAMsports.com/coverage.aspx.

UAM VS. SAU  |  HISTORY
Saturday's regular season finale rivalry game against the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas University received its title of "Battle of the Timberlands" prior to the 2012 season. Each year, the winner claims a traveling trophy, but SAU has maintained possession since its inception. Saturday's game between UAM and SAU will mark the 92nd meeting the two programs have played football against each other. It is UAM's oldest and most played rivalry in school history. The Muleriders hold a 55-35-1 all-time advantage and a 27-15 edge in games played in Magnolia. The Muleriders also have the edge in recent games, having won six in a row over the Weevils.

LEADING THE WAY
UAM remains first overall in the Great American Conference in total offense per game, averaging 463 yards per match-up. Jalen Tolliver continues to lead the GAC in total receiving yards (982), receiving touchdowns (14), and receiving yards per game (98.2). Defensive-back Jeremy Jackson remains at the top of the conference with 18 total passes defend as well.

SCOUTING THE MULERIDERS
Southern Arkansas ranks first overall in the Great American Conference in total pass offense per game with 291.3 yards per contest. Quarterback Brett Renner leads that aerial attack with a GAC best 2,904 passing yards, and leads the conference in passing touchdowns with 31. Michael Nunnery anchors the ground game for the Muleriders with 784 rushing yards on 147 carries, and has totaled 10 rushing scores this season as well. Tanner Hudson and Karonce Higgins lead the receiving core of SAU as Higgins has totaled seven receiving touchdowns, and Hudson leads the team with 559 receiving yards.

Defensively SAU is led by Elgin Moore with 67 total tackles, one of which was for a loss. Davondrick Lison anchors the defensive front for the Muleriders with a GAC best 7.5 sacks this season. Lison has also totaled 48 tackles on the year as well. Darren Crawford leads the secondary for this program with three interceptions, and 10 total pass defended this season.

LAST TIME OUT
The Weevils were taken down by the Reddies of Henderson State at home last weekend by a final score of 28-21. Leading the Weevil offensive attack was Deountario Brown and Imani Riley who each totaled 86 rushing yards in the contest. Brown added one rushing touchdown to his stat-line as well. Jalen Tolliver continued to have a stellar season with six catches for 94 yards and two receiving touchdowns. Defensively free safety Christian Jefferson recorded 14 total tackles last Saturday, his career best in a Weevil uniform. Jefferson also provided one forced fumble and one pass broken up in the match-up.
