@WEEVILFOOTBALL DOMINATES TIGERS AT HOME

MONTICELLO - The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team handled the Tigers of East Central University at home Saturday evening by a final score of 49-7 for the Weevils second straight win.

  • UAM improves to 2-1 (2-1 GAC) on the season. 
  • East Central drops to 1-2 (1-2 GAC) in 2017.
  • Head Coach Hud Jackson: "Unreal win, players played hard, and consistency was the key. Have stuff to work on, but we are learning how to finish!"

  • Arkansas-Monticello struck first with 05:27 left in the opening quarter as Cole Sears found Ed Smith for a 12 yard score through the air.
  • Sears would once again find success through the air, this time to senior Trevon Smith for a 41 yard touchdown after Smith took it to the house for six and gave UAM the 14-0 advantage.

  • The Weevils extended that lead out further midway through the second quarter with another passing touchdown from Cole Sears to Jalen Tolliver for the 21-0 lead.
  • ECU finally got onto the board late in the first half of play with a 22 yard passing touchdown to make it 21-7 at the half.

  • Sears was responsible for the lone score of the third quarter on the opening drive of the second half with a 31 yard rushing touchdown on fourth-and-one to put UAM up 28-7.

  • Arkansas-Monticello continued its offensive attack early in the final quarter of the contest as Sears connected with Tolliver once again on a deep route for the 44 yard score.
  • The UAM defense continued to make big plays as well as senior Jeremy Jackson picked off the Tigers and returned the interception 76 total yards for the touchdown, pushing the home lead out to 42-7.
  • The Weevils capped off its scoring with a 10 yard touchdown run from freshman Logan Penn, his first career touchdown in a UAM Football uniform.

  • Cole Sears: 10 carries, 70 yards, and one rushing touchdown
  • Jalen Tolliver: eight receptions for 99 yards, and two receiving touchdowns
  • Jeremy Jackson: six total tackles, three passes broken up, one interception (returned for a touchdown)
  • Ivan King: one interception, two tackles
  • Stephen King: 2.0 sacks, three total tackles

  • The Weevils will take on the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State next Saturday, September 23 on the road in Durant, Oklahoma with kick off scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
