SHAWNEE, Okla. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team fell on the road at Oklahoma Baptist University on Saturday from Shawnee, Oklahoma, 33-31. With the loss, the Weevils are now 5-3 this season heading into the final three games of their schedule.

Despite the loss, UAM had another solid day on the ground rushing for 366 total yards. Devontae Dean paved the way with 187 yards and two touchdowns, while Demilon Brown rushed for 120 yards.

Brown also hooked up with DeAndre Washington for a pair of TD's including one late in the game that helped cut the deficit to two points in the final two minutes.

UAM was the first team to score in the matchup taking a 7-0 lead into the second quarter. On its final drive of the first quarter, the Weevils marched down the field for a 14-play 48-yard drive that ended in a Dean rushing touchdown.

However, it was Oklahoma Baptist that responded with 19 points in the second quarter to take a 19-7 lead into break. The Bison's first score was a safety after pinning UAM deep into its own territory. The Bison then tallied a field goal to finish an 8-play 36-yard drive with 8:23 left to play in the half. OBU would later record a pair of touchdowns; much in part to their quarterback Preston Haire, as they took the lead 19-7.

The Weevils looked to start their comeback in the third quarter following the break. After making a stop of OBU's offense, UAM went 36-yards on seven plays and Josh Marini cut the deficit to nine with a 46-yard field goal.

UAM then shrunk the lead to two points following another stop. The Weevils marched down the field again for a 5-play 88-yard drive that ended with a Dean rushing touchdown to make it 19-17, OBU. Unfortunately, the Bison answered back right at the end of the third quarter pushing the lead to 26-17.

In the fourth, it was a pair of turnovers that proved to be UAM's downfall. Oklahoma Baptist would score its final touchdown off an interception to lead it 33-17.

The Weevils eventually cut the lead to 33-24 on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Brown to Washington but would cough up the ball later to end a 5-play 50-yard drive. The fumble would result in OBU chewing 4:49 minutes off the clock and leaving little time for the Weevils to get back in it.

UAM did tally one touchdown however on a 6-play 80-yard drive. On this score it was Brown and Washington finding the endzone again to make it 33-31.

UAM followed with an onside kick, but it was unable to recover, and the Bison went on to win the game, 33-31.

With the loss, the Weevils are now 5-3 this season and Oklahoma Baptist improves to 4-4.
