MONTICELLO, Ark. – Looking to grab the bull by the horns, the Harding University football team will host the University of Arkansas at Monticello this weekend. The contest will be held Saturday October 23rd with kickoff set for 3 p.m. at First Security Stadium. UAM looks to improve their overall record to 5-3 after falling to Ouachita Baptist.

Last Meeting
The last time these two teams met was on September 14, 2019 at First Security Stadium. The Weevils fell to the Bisons by a score of 0-24. The hosts from Searcy, Arkansas showed dominating defense to give the Bisons a shutout over the Weevils. UAM attempted to put some numbers on the board but continued to fall short with every drive.
About Last Week
The Weevils struggled to find their ground as they lost to #11 Ouachita Baptist University (OBU) on Saturday by a score of 34-0. OBU had a 14-0 lead after one quarter of action on a pair of rushing touchdowns by TJ Cole and Kendel Givens. OBU tacked on to their lead in the second quarter with two more touchdowns. A 58 yard passing touchdown by Grant Allen to Tucker Swoboda and a 69 yard rush by TJ Cole. Despite their best efforts, the Weevils couldn't break the OBU defense. OBU's Gabe Goodman would kick a 28 yard field goal to end the half with a 31-0 lead over UAM. The third and fourth quarters made for a strong defensive half as both teams struggled to get the ball down the field. With a field goal early in the fourth, OBU put up their final 3 points of the game, leading to a 34-0 victory over the Weevils. Jonero Scott and Logan Penn paced the Weevils on the ground as they racked up 28 and 22 rushing yards. LaCedric Smith led the way in the receiving category as he tallied two catches for 53 yards.

UAM has been masterful at winning close games this season as three of the four Weevils' victories have been decided by one possession.
Upset incoming?
UAM Football is looking to upset #12 Harding University who is 6-1 this season. The Weevils sit behind two games from the Bisons this season but look to cut it down one. With the energy building up from last weekends loss, the Weevils are ready to fight!
Demilon Brown Leads the Charge
Demilon Brown has been the catalyst for the UAM offense as he paces the team with 214 passing yards per game and has used his elusiveness in the pocket to scamper for 75 yards per contest.
Receiving Core
The Weevils are led by a trio of receivers. Senior wide receiver C.J. Parham leads the way for UAM with 472 yards and four touchdowns on the season. Parham ranks seventh in the conference in receiving yards and total receptions (34). Fellow senior tight end DeAndre Washington has 22 receptions for 314 yards and three touchdowns, while sophomore wide receiver LaCedric Smith has posted 259 yards and one score on 18 catches.
Defensive Depth
Defensively, 17 different Weevils have registered double digit total tackles this season with eight UAM athletes already surpassing 20 tackles. Kaytron Allen has tallied a team-leading 37 tackles.
Defending the Pass
Six players have collected an interception so far this season for UAM. DeQuan Street leads the secondary with two picks to go along with one pass breakup. Kaytron Allen and Greg Hooks each have one interception and combined for six pass breakups.
Scouting the Bisons
Harding University is 6-1 on the season. Offensively, the Bisons rank 3rd in the GAC in scoring and 4th in total yards averaging 37.1 points and 403.3 yards per game. On defense, HU is surrendering the least amount of points per contest in the conference at 13.9 points per game, while giving up 267.4 yards per contest.
HU GROUND Attack
The Bisons will rely heavily on the ground game as HU ranks first in the conference in rushing yards per game with 363.1 yards. Cole Chancey leads the way for the Bisons with 113.1 yards per game. Chancey ranks third in the GAC for yards per game. Chancey is also second in the GAC in rushing touchdowns with 15, while accumulating 792 yards so far this season.

UAM travels to Durant to take on Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Oct. 30. The showdown between the Weevils and the Savage Storm is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff.
