MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team will face its first ranked opponent Saturday when the Weevils host #25 Henderson State at Willis "Convoy" Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium. Kickoff between the Weevils and the Reddies is set for 6 p.m.

PARENT & FAMILY APPRECIATION DAY
UAM is proud to host Parent & Family Appreciation Day on the Arkansas at Monticello campus. Hundreds of visitors are expected for the occasion. There will be several events geared toward student and their families, including a free tailgate cookout. Registration is at the Green Star Tent south of Weevil Pond.
WALK OF CHAMPIONS
At 3:30 p.m., the traditional Weevil Walk of Champions will take place on Lakeshore Dr. in the midst of tailgating. The UAM band, color guard, cheer squad, mascots, and football team will process through a crowd of campus and community supporters ready to cheer them to victory over HSU.
ENTRANCES
The home and visitor gates will be open to all fans to enter or purchase tickets.
RESTROOMS
Steelman Field House will be accessible through the front doors prior to the event. During the game the visitor's side entrance to Steelman will be locked.
Restrooms accessed outside the Lassiter Indoor Practice Facility will be open before and during the game.
PARKING
Lakeshore Dr. is shutdown four hours prior to the game.
No parking is available in front of Steelman Field House.
VIP parking is located at Harris Hall. Proper credential are required.
Handicapped parking is available at Harris Hall and the Scogin Dr. lot.
There will be hospitality carts available before and after the game.

The Matchup
UAM hosts Henderson State at Willis "Convoy" Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium for Parent and Family Appreciation Day sponsored by Union Bank Saturday. It will be the 83rd meeting between the two teams in their history dating back to 1914. The Weevils trail the Reddies in the all-time series 31-49-2. The last time UAM beat HSU was a 24-17 victory in 2018 on the road in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The Weevils have not defeated the Reddies at home since 2000 when UAM rolled to a 46-14 win. The last three meetings have all been decided by just one score.
Coaching Matchup
UAM head football Coach Hud Jackson is now 35-66 in his UAM coaching career after starting the season 1-1. His counterpart will be Scott Maxfield who is in his 16th year at Henderson State and has compiled a 110-58 record.
Last Meeting
The last time these two teams met was on November 2, 2019 at Willis "Convoy" Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium. The Reddies won that matchup 27-20. UAM battled HSU down to the wire scoring a touchdown with just over two minutes remaining, but was unable to recover the onside kick to get an opportunity to score the game-tying touchdown. The connection between Demilon Brown and C.J. Parham was clicking throughout the game as the pair hooked up for both of the Weevils' touchdowns. Brown finished with 216 yards passing and two touchdowns while Parham compiled 122 yards receiving and two scores on four catches.
About Last Week
Oklahoma Baptist handed the Weevils their first loss of the season defeating UAM 45-20. UAM fell behind early taking a 35-0 deficit into the locker room at haltime before attempting to make a comeback finding the end zone three times in the second half. Brown accounted for each of the Weevils' touchdowns taking in two scores on the ground and connecting with Parham for the other. Brown was 29-43 for 349 yards in the air with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Weevil Way on Offense
UAM ranks sixth in total offense and sevent in scoring in the GAC averaging 409.0 yards and 25.0 points per game. The passing game leads the way for the Weevils as they rate third in the conference with 341.5 yards per contest through the air.
What Can Brown Do For You?
Quarterback Demilon Brown carries the load for UAM on offense averaging 384.5 total yards per game which ranks at the top of the GAC. He has tallied an average of 341.5 yards through the air and 43.0 yards on the ground through two contests so far this season. He rates third in the conference in passing yards per game and tied for fifth with four passing touchdowns. In total, Brown has compiled seven touchdowns on the season with four through the air and three on the ground.
Air Raid Weapons
Three Weevils have more than 100 yards receiving after just two games this season. Senior wide receiver C.J. Parham leads the way for UAM with 253 yards and one touchdown on 14 receptions which ranks him second in the GAC in yards and tied for third in catches. Fellow senior tight end DeAndre Washington has 10 receptions for 144 yards and two touchdowns and sophomore wide receiver LaCedric Smith has posted 148 yards and one score on eight catches.
Tackling Tahji & Traylor
Defensively, the Weevils are led by a pair of seniors in defensive lineman Tahji Gilbert and Chason Traylor who have each registered 10 total tackles through the first two contests. Gilbert also ranks third in the conference in tackles for loss with three for seven yards. Traylor follows close behind adding two tackles for loss to his stat sheet for six yards.
Shutdown Street
Defensive back DeQuan Street is the ball hawk in the secondary for the Weevils with two interceptions - both coming in the season opener against SNU. His pair of picks put him in a tie for the GAC lead through two games. The junior defensive back also has one pass breakup to his credit.
Looking for a W over a Nationally Ranked opponent
Saturday's contest will be the first time UAM faces a nationally ranked opponent this year with Henderson State ranking 25h in the latest AFCA Coaches Poll. UAM is looking for its first win over a nationally ranked opponent since October 7, 2017 when it defeated No. 24 Arkansas Tech.
Scouting the Reddies
Henderson State is 2-0 on the season earning a top-25 ranking at No. 25 after defeating Northwestern Oklahoma State 55-7 at home last week. Offensively, the Reddies lead the GAC in scoring and total yards averaging 43.0 points and 505.0 yards per game while allowing a league-best 10.0 points per contest. On defense, HSU ranks third in total defense allowing 287.5 yards per contest.
Balance on Offense
The Reddies rate third in the conference in rushing and sixth in passing averaging 261.0 yards on the ground and 244.0 through the air. Duce Sproles leads the ground attack for HSU with 186 yards rushing and two touchdowns this season. The duo of Adam Morse and L'Liott Curry pace the passing game for the Reddies. Morse has 488 passing yards and five touchdowns while Curry boasts 188 yards and one touchdown.
Top Defenders for HSU
Jacob Greenfield, Dedric O'Bryant and Jake Chatman lead the Reddie defense each registering double-digit tackles so far this season. Greenfield leads the trio with 15 while O'Bryant and Chatman each have 10 total tackles. Greenfield and O'Bryant each have one interception as well.
Forcing Turnovers
HSU leads the GAC with seven turnovers forced and has the best turnover margin (+5) of any team in the conference. The Reddies lead all of NCAA DII with six interceptions this season with each pick being made by a different player.
