MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Boll Weevil Football Team is back home as the host in-state conference member Henderson State University for the 8th game of the 2023 season. Kick-off for the game is set for 2:00 p.m.
The Boll Weevils are coming off a harrowing 24-10 loss on the road at Arkansas Tech University last weekend. UAM currently ranks first in the Great American Conference in passing offense and sixth in pass efficiency behind the arm of quarterback Buddy Taylor, who threw for 282 yards passing and an efficiency rating of 123.30 last weekend.
The top receiver for the Weevils is Isaiah Cross who ranks third in the GAC in both total receiving yard and receptions per game, following his six reception, 74 yard game last weekend.
UAM sits fifth in the GAC in scoring points per contest, falling behind Henderson State, and sixth in total yards with 385.4 per game.
Defensively, the Weevils are surrendering 32.9 points and 350.3 yards per contest. The leading tackler for the Weevils is Damarous White, who has 33 total tackles, with 21 solo stops.
"We understand the importance of this game," said Head Coach Hud Jackson. "We have to play a more disciplined and physical game to be successful. That is what we have to do. We will play hard. Eat'em up!"

THE MATCHUP
UAM sits behind in the all-time series, 35-51-2 against Henderson State University since the teams first met over 100 years ago in 1914. The Weevils are 1-7 against the Reddies at Willis "Convoy" Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium since the turn of the century. UAM looks to take down Henderson State for the first time since the 2018 season.
LAST MEETING
Arkansas-Monticello lost on the road to HSU in 2022 in a 27-20 match-up. The Weevil defense struggled to stop the Reddie offense, allowing five total touchdowns and one field goal. The Boll Weevil offense struggle to find their stride until the final quarter of the game, outscoring Henderson State 20-7. UAM had 523 total yards on offense.
Quarterback Demilon Brown passed for 320 yards with a completion rate of 14-for-29. Brown also led UAM in the running game, rushing for a net total of 106 yards on 23 attempts.
LaCedric Smith led the Weevil receiving core as he pulled in six passes for 144 yards.
ON-FIELD ACCESS
Authorized UAM personnel and stand-by medical staff are the only ones with on-field access during the Weevil Football games. All other unauthorized personnel are required to stay within the stands. The following are prohibited at Willis "Convoy" Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium:

RESTROOMS
Restrooms for all fans are on the opposite side of the UAM Indoor Practice Facility as the field. There are also portable bathrooms available behind the UAM student-section on the south side of the home stands.
