MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Boll Weevil Football Team is set to host their home-opener for the 2023 season against Great American Conference foe Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Saturday's game will be UAM Parent and Family Day, sponsored by Union Bank.

The Boll Weevils are coming off a dominant 49-24 win on the road against Northwestern Oklahoma State University in the season opener last weekend. UAM currently ranks first in the Great American Conference in passing offense and fourth in pass efficiency behind the arm of quarterback Demilon Brown, who threw for 388 yards passing and an efficiency rating of 151.8 last weekend.

Brown also leads the conference in total offense with 395 yards in the season opening contest. The top receiver for the Weevils is Isaiah Cross who ranks fourth in the GAC in receiving yards per game and tied for first in receptions per contest, following his seven receptions and 100 receiving yards last weekend. UAM sits second in the GAC in scoring points per contest, falling just behind Harding University, and first in yards with 500 per game.

Defensively, the Weevils are surrendering 24 points and 295 yards per contest. The leading tackler for the Weevils is Jekerrias Scott, who is fifth overall in the conference, with nine total tackles and eight solo tackles.

"First home game is always great," said Head Coach Hud Jackson. "Family weekend for all of our students creates a great atmosphere. Been a great week of practice and our players are looking forward to competing against a tough SWOSU team. We need a big crowd to support the Weevils! Eat'em up!"

THE MATCHUP
The University of Arkansas at Monticello Football team will host the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Saturday evening for Parent and Family Day at Willis "Convoy" Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium.

UAM sits behind in the all-time series, 5-6 against Southwestern Oklahoma State University since the teams first met in 2011. The Weevils are 5-1 against the Bulldogs at Willis "Convoy" Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium as they look to take down SWOSU for the third time since the 2019 season.

LAST MEETING
Arkansas-Monticello lost on the road to the Bulldogs in 2022 with a final score of 37-27. The Weevils had 396 total yards on offense and four touchdowns in the game. Quarterback Demilon Brown tossed for one touchdown and rushed for another. Returner LaCedric Smith led the Weevil receiving core as Parham and Washington each caught six passes for 188 and 89 yards, and a combined 3 touchdowns. Smith caught five passes for 107 yards, including a touchdown.

ON-FIELD ACCESS
Authorized UAM personnel and standy-by medical staff are the only ones with on-field access during the Weevil Football games. All other unauthorized personnel are required to stay within the stands. The following are prohibited at Willis "Convoy" Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium:

RESTROOMS
Restrooms for all fans are on the opposite side of the UAM Indoor Practice Facility as the field. There are also portable bathrooms available behind the UAM student-section on the south side of the home stands.
