Weevils Fall in 99th Annual Battle of the Timberlands

MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team hosted Southern Arkansas University on Saturday afternoon for the 99th annual Battle of the Timberlands. The Senior Day contest ended in a 54-22 loss to the Muleriders.

Senior quarterback Demilon Brown gave UAM a 6-18 performance with 76 passing yards on the night. Brown was also the leading rusher for the Boll Weevils, running the ball for 160 net yards. Anthony Dansby was the leading receiver in the game, grabbing one reception for 36 total yards.

Defensively, Robert Iverson Jr. stood above the rest, grabbing 9 total tackles, with three solo stops on the afternoon.

Dylan Duhon was 1-2 on PAT attempts.

  • 14:48 – SAU | Southern Arkansas scored on a recovered fumble to take the early lead.
  • 12:19 – SAU | The Muleriders scored its second touchdown on a one yard rush.
  • 06:00 – SAU | A goalline rush for the Muleriders gave SAU a 21-0 advantage. 
  • 00:31 – SAU | SAU pushed their lead to 24-0 on a 25-yard field goal.

Second Quarter

  • 11:13 – UAM | Demilon Brown rushed 12 yards into the endzone to put the Weevils on the board.
  • 03:12 – UAM | Dylan Duhon kicked a 31-yard field goal to make it a 24-9 game. 
  • 00:00 – SAU | The Muleriders saw a 26-yard field goal made to extend the lead to 27-9.

  • 04:51 – UAM | A short rushing touchdown by Demilon Brown made it a 27-16 game.
  • 02:42 – SAU | A 70-yard rush by Kadyn Roach pushed the SAU lead to 34-16.
