NEWTON, Kan. – The Arkansas-Monticello women's golf team played in the opening round of the Newman Invitational at the Sand Creek Station Golf Club in Newton, Kansas on Monday afternoon. The Blossoms came out of day one of the tournament in 8th place overall, with Chiara Sturaro and Mekdes Rozas leading the way for UAM.

Both Chiara Sturaro and Mekdes Rozas led the Blossoms in the opening round of the tournament, closing out their first 18 holes with a 6-over 78. Sturaro and Rozas finished the day tied for 20th place.

Natalie Van Dort was next on the score card with an 83 on the day. Van Dort closed out day one in 36th place.

Ximena Paz was the second Blossom to score in the 80's on the day. Paz closed out day one tied for 45th, with a score of 89. 

Anna Beth Reynolds left day one of the tournament in 48th place, with a score of 101 on the day.
