MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team travels to Shawnee, Oklahoma, on Saturday to take on the Bison of Oklahoma Baptist University. The campaign will be the sixth match-up of the season for the Boll Weevils.
The Boll Weevils head into the weekend after a 23-9 Homecoming win over out-of-state foe Southern Nazarene in week five. UAM currently holds a 2-3 record after back-to-back wins in weeks four and five, where they also defeated a 3-0 Arkansas Tech at the time.
The 2025 season is the 14th season under the helm of Head Coach
Hud Jackson, who first led UAM in the 2011 season, which marked the program's first year in the Great American Conference.
"This is a really big game for our football program," said veteran Head Coach
Hud Jackson.
"Not just because it's the next game, but for us to continue to make improvements and move forward with the momentum that we have gained. We have to make sure that we keep the mentality of 'one play at a time.' We have adjusted our focus that way and have seen more production from our football team. Road trips are always tough in our conference, and we understand that we have to be in the moment to have a chance against Oklahoma Baptist. Eat'em up."

The Boll Weevils are currently sitting 2-3, following a 23-9 homecoming win over Southern Nazarene in week five. Monticello sits ninth in the GAC in scoring and eighth in total offense, averaging 19.6 points per contest and 340 yards of offense per game. The Boll Weevils land 10th in the conference in rushing, posting an average of 98 yards per contest. Jaylen Sulton leads the running game, averaging 29.2 yards a contest.
Ahmari Cox and
TJ Fields are the top targets in the receiving game for UAM, with Cox totaling 192 yards on 11 receptions and Collins totaling 178 yards on 19 receptions.
LAST MEETING
Arkansas-Monticello beat Oklahoma Baptist 24-20 at home in the 2024 season. The Boll Weevils posted 359 yards of total offense in the contest. Sophomore quarterback
Buddy Taylor led the air attack, connecting with six of 11 total completions for 121 passing yards. Taylor also led the rushing game with 107 total net yards on seven attempts, averaging 15.3 yards per carry for two touchdowns and a long of 31. The UAM defense was led by three different Boll Weevils with nine total tackles.
Taylor Collins stood above the others in solo tackles, grabbing six.
All-TIME SERIES
UAM leads the all-time series, 5-4, with the last win for the Boll Weevils in 2024. The home contest concluded with a 24-20 win. The largest margin of victory for the Weevils came during the 2017 season with a 64-21 win. Arkansas-Monticello is 1-4 on the road in Shawnee, averaging 32.22 points against the Bison.
