HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello Women's Golf Team opened the 4th Annual Battle for the Belt Sunday in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The Blossoms finished the first day after 36-holes in fourth place, with a combined team score of 612, 36-over par.
The Blossoms shot a combined score of 305 (+17) in round one and 307 (+19) in round two. Henderson State finished atop the leaderboard after day one at 15-over par (591). Fellow Great American Conference member Harding sits in second, posting a total of 604 (+28).
Kenzie McCleny led the Blossoms on day one, tied for 12th place at 7-over par (151). McCleny posted a first-round of 81 (+9), followed by a second-round of 70 (-2).
Paveekul Kladkleep and Renata Abad finished day one tied for 18th at 10-over par (154). Kladkleep fired a first-round of 78 (+6) and 4-over par (76) in the second-round. Abad fired a first-round of 74 (+2) and 8-over par (80) in the second-round.
Tori Milton fired a first-round of 73 (+1), before posting a second-round score of 82 (+10) to finish the day with an overall score of 155 (+11), tying for 21st.
Faith Hendren closed out the Blossoms on day one finished tied for 36th at 17-over par (161), after posting a score of 8-over par (80) in round one and 9-over par (81) in round two.
The Blossoms combined for 20 birdies for the day, 11 in round one and 9 in round two.
The Blossoms will play the final round of the tournament, tomorrow Monday, October 13, starting at 8:30 a.m.
