Week 8 Preview: Weevils Head to Searcy, Set to Face-Off With Bisons

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team travels to Searcy, Arkansas, on Saturday to take on the Bisons of Harding University. The contest will be the eighth match-up of the season for the Boll Weevils.
 
The Boll Weevils enter the weekend following a 45–10 Pink Out Game loss to in-state foe Ouachita Baptist in Week Seven. UAM now holds a 2–5 record on the season after consecutive setbacks in weeks six and seven.

The 2025 season is the 14th season under the helm of Head Coach Hud Jackson, who first led UAM in the 2011 season, which marked the program's first year in the Great American Conference.

PREGAME NOTES
The Boll Weevils are currently sitting 2-5, following a 10-45 pink out loss over Ouachita Baptist in week seven. Monticello sits tenth in the GAC in scoring and eighth in total offense, averaging 17.4 points per contest and 242.9 yards of offense per game. The Boll Weevils land 11th in the conference in rushing, posting an average of 102.9 yards per contest. Defensively, UAM ranks eighth in total defense, surrendering 343.9 yards per game, and 11th in scoring defense, allowing 32.1 points per game. Offensively, running back Jaylen Sulton leads the running game, averaging 30.71 yards a contest. Chasden Collins and Ahmari Cox are the top targets in the receiving game for UAM, with Collins totaling 372 yards on 21 receptions and Cox totaling 232 yards on 15 receptions.

LAST MEETING
Arkansas-Monticello fell to Harding 3–63 at home in the 2024 season. The Boll Weevils recorded 191 yards of total offense in the contest. Senior Demilon Brown led the passing attack, completing nine of 20 passes for 80 yards. Tyler Reed led the rushing game with 72 net yards on 17 carries, averaging 4.2 yards per carry with a long of 26. On defense, UAM was led by TJ Jasper and Tre Stokes. Jasper recorded seven total tackles, including five solo and two assisted, while Stokes tallied six total tackles, with two solo and four assisted.

All-TIME SERIES
UAM trails the all-time series, 24-35, with the last win for the Boll Weevils in 2009. The home contest concluded with a 44-17 win. The largest margin of victory for the Weevils came during the 1979 season with a 50-7 win. Arkansas-Monticello is 13-17 on the road in Seacry, averaging 19.75 points against the Bisons.
