Weevils Fall in 100th Annual Battle of the Timberlands

MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team (2-9, 2-9 GAC) played its final game of the 2025 season on Saturday afternoon when the Boll Weevils traveled to play Great American Conference rival Southern Arkansas University (8-3, 8-3 GAC) in the 100th Annual Battle of the Timberlands. UAM came out of the contest with a 49-10 loss to conclude the year.

Quarterback Austin Wadsworth was the leading QB on the afternoon, giving UAM a 10-19 performance with 98 passing yards. AK Hazley was the leading receiver in the game, grabbing two receptions for 44 total yards, with the longest being 26 yards. Ja'Kell Allen was right behind with three receptions, with 36 yards. On the ground, Tavion Faulk led the Boll Weevils with 14 carries for 68 yards.

Defensively, Rashaad Jackson stood above the rest with eight total tackles and two solo stops on the afternoon.

Charles Stinson led the day on special teams, going 1-1 on PATs and kicking a 28-yard field goal.

First Quarter
  • 07:05 – SAU | The Muleriders were the first on the board with a 2-yard pass complete into the endzone.

Second Quarter

  • 12:02 – SAU | A 13-yard reception gave Southern Arkansas a 14-0 lead over the Weevils.
Third Quarter
  • 14:50 – SAU | Southern Arkansas extended their lead to 21-0 on a 41-yard receiving touchdown.
  • 11:43 – UAM | A 28-yard field goal made by Charles Stinson brought the game to 21-3.
  • 09:45 – SAU | A goalline rush for the Muleriders gave Southern Arkansas a 28-3 advantage.
  • 03:55 – SAU | SAU sccored their fifth touchdown of the afternoon with a 34-yard reception.
Fourth Quarter
  • 13:13 – SAU | The Muleriders pushed their lead to 42-3 on a 5-yard rushing touchdown.
  • 07:48 – UAM | Joshua Dixon pulled in a 4-yard pass from Austin Wadsworth to put up UAM's final touchdown.
  • 02:34 – SAU | Southern Arkansas rushed 6 yards into the endzone for the final points of the game, resulting in a 49-10 loss for UAM.
