Football Drops 2025 Season Opener to Southeastern

DURANT, Okla. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team opened the 2025 season on Thursday evening at Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Boll Weevils traveled to Durant, Oklahoma, to take on the Savage Storm, coming out of the contest with a 44-13 loss to open the year.

Quarterback Tavion Faulk started the year with a 13-18 performance with 155 passing yards. Ahmari Cox was the leading receiver in the game, grabbing two receptions for 75 total yards, with the longest being 75 yards. Chasden Collins was right behind with five receptions and 62 yards. On the ground, Glen Cage led the Boll Weevils with 7 carries for 17 yards.

Defensively, Dajon Doss stood above the rest, grabbing eight total tackles, with four solo stops and a sack on the night.

Dylan Duhon led the day on special teams, going 1-2 on PATs.

Boll Weevil Head Coach Hud Jackson had this to say after the game: "Not what we are capable of. Starts with me. We have to have guys ready to play when people go down. There are no excuses. We start preparing for the next one tomorrow. We have to be better, and we have to work harder. We will be ready for next week. Eat 'em up!"

  • 05:35 – SE | A 41-yard field goal made pushed Southeastern to 10 points.
Second Quarter
  • 10:34 – SE | SE extended their lead to 13-0 on a 32-yard field goal.
  • 03:57 – UAM | Michael Lott pulled in a 44-yard pass from Tavion Faulk for UAM's first touchdown of the game.
  • 00:04 – SE | Southeastern saw an 8-yard reception touchdown to increase their lead to 20-6.
Third Quarter
  • 12:24 – SE | A third touchdown for the Savage Storm resulted in a 27-6 lead.
  • 05:13 – SE | A short rushing touchdown pushed Southeastern's lead to 34-6.
  • 05:03  – UAM | Tyler Webb connected with Ahmari Cox on a 75-yard pass to conclude a quick one-play, touchdown.
Fourth Quarter
  • 12:06 – SE | A 37-yard reception into the endzone gave Southeastern its fifth touchdown of the game.
  • 05:20 – SE | The Savage Storm made a 25-yard field goal for the final points of the game.

Arkansas-Monticello will host East Central University on Saturday, Sept. 13, for First Responders Appreciation Day, sponsored by Union Bank. The Boll Weevils and Tigers are scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. CT kickoff.
